This is a follow up this thread: https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=137182

I purchased the winch couple of weeks ago but just picked it up on the 03/13/07. The owner was a old guy said he had not used more than "once or twice", said it was brand new..

Turns out he was right on. I took it off the Warn mount it was on, cleaned the garage dust off it and found a like new 27 year old winch. Only thing wrong with it is it says HEEP in big letters on the Warn serial # label. He bought it from a HEEP dealer when new...least now the winch can live out it's days proud of it's mounting..

I popped open the case to assure that it had oil and the gears were okay. Had oil, it was clean, gears looked new. Changed the oil out to 30wt non-detergent.

I left it with the motor and top case off, removed my grill and droped in the bottom part from the top of the ARB. bolted on the T-Max roller fairlead. Then I dropped on the top half sealed it up and bolted it down. I had new wires made up making the ground the same size as the positive then Wired it up (thanks 2mbb).

Runs great..

thanks for all the input folks..

Great looking winch man! Is it an 8274 or an 8270?

Great find!

8274..

really not much to comment on. did all my question asking on the other thread.

thanks though..I'm happy with it.

Just a heads up. Craig's list for Portland, OR has several 8274 and 8274-50s listed under auto parts 03/19/07

At the risk of repeating myself from another thread - looks great!

My "new to me" 8274 looks like junk compared to yours.

Hmmm, now that I think about it so does my bumper.

That bumper looks like it has plenty of room to drop a winch in it though.

Take it to 2badfj's and get him to weld up a mount...(2badfj is who made your sliders and rear bumper, isn't it?)

Now that I've seen some installed I'm sure it will work out fine. Of course Jim will be the man to make it look good and mounted nice and strong. ;)

Hey Jon, that looks great! Nice score.

Well, thank you very much. I'm very happy with it...Now I gotta keep myself from buying a cover for it so the selenoid box dose not fade out:crybaby:.

I know a 40 out there I'd like to put a pull on and drag it out for some air...
