Finally got her loaded into the garage for surgery. Like Ace Ventura would say, "like a glove!" Had to remove roof rack and air down tires. Now time to get her on Jack stands and start tearing stuff apart!

Yikes Mikey, Will you even have room to lift it enough to get jack stands under and tires off. :hmm:
Oh Yeah, If you let me know today, I can set some jack stands out on the front porch for you.

If you need some lower rollers visit Cyclops but just be wary of poison ivy on the fence. o_O

Good luck with the tear down and diagnosis. I'll look for updates on here but won't be by to check on you for about a month. :grinpimp:

It looks tighter than it really is. I have about a foot above the roof to lift the truck. And a good walking path all the away around the truck. I just have to see if I have enough room to pull the passenger side rear axle shaft in order to pull the 3rd and work on bearings etc.

I'm good on stands. Gonna grab a couple pair from harbor freight, but thanks!!

@FZJ80 in KC I've got coupon for 3 Ton stands $19.99 pair but you probably want to go with 6 Ton set.

Mikey if you need help with some wrenching after work let me know. I can do an overnight in KC and help.

Just cut a hole in the wall. I'm sure no one will notice.

Thanks Sammy. I'm going to take my time with it. I'll need the project with mini-me #2 due in August.

Finally taking care of some issues with the 100 before we venture to CO next week. Replaced the little motors on all 5 door lock actuators. Several of the original motors decided not to work when the temperatures were above 90. Given we'll probably need to lock up on our trip it was time to tackle the project. Option 1 was replace the actuator assemblies for about $70 each. Option 2 cost only $5 and took about 15 more minutes in the process to replace the motor only. A heat gun and epoxy were involved, but nothing too difficult.

Next was to replace (2) heater hose tees near the firewall. I liken these to the 100 equivalent of the 80's Pesky Heater Hose issue. $20 in parts and a borrowed cable style hose clamp plier and the job took about 15 minutes. Bought me another 15 years of peace of mind.

Next was to dig into the cabin air filter / evaporator housing as Shannon wasn't happy with the occasional drip on her feet on longer trips. Found that there was no cabin air filter in place so one is on the way. Also found a good mess of leaves/debris in the evaporator housing . Cleaned it up and added a bead of silicone for good measure. Hopefully that takes care of it.

Why you need a cabin air filter:

Ends up my kids orthodontist picked up a car that not many people know about. It is called an FJ40. My son let him know that we have heard of them.

His name is Kelly too! We are good people.

:)

Personally I would have preferred the air locker up front. Peggy might agree, but do understand good mechanics are hard to find. Just ask Jennifer, she complains about hers all the time

finally got around to installing the OME 630 rear springs. about an inch more than than i was hoping for. I had OEM with 30mm spacers and wanted another inch. my OEM must have been sagging more than I thought. we'll see if they settle at all or if i add more weight to level it out.

I like the stiffer spring it seems to work better with my front end

Swapped out my front axle for a locked one. Went pretty easy. Hardest part was lining back up the brackets while putting it back in.

Tested and it all locks up like it is suppose too.

Big thanks to @2fpower and @Robkc for the all help and resources.

Headed out to Colorado to put it to the test next week!

Ya 3 lugnuts aren't strong enough make sure to add at least a 4th...

Nice. That is one of my favorite areas to go. I need to go back sometime and run Iron Chest. It is pretty much the only trail I haven't done in that area.

My buddy says he will never do it again. He was running a fully done out TJ with all the high dollar armor and suspension. Said he landed his truck so hard on the transfer skid that he bit his own tongue o_O However, I would be happy to be your spotter if you want to try it.

My dad did it years ago in his old Bronco. Doesn't see the need to ever do it again. I would like to do it sometime just to say I made it. Or break the crap out of my 80.

Your in for the spotter position.

Another good one would be Mt Of the Holy Cross.

Holy Cross
