Yeah, CohibaDream, in my experience with Holman Toyota (and elsewhere) the sales staff are essentially clueless about LCs. I've talked to some service techs who drive 60s, 80s, 4Runners, etc who can appreciate the 200, but the service advisors I've come in contact with have no clue either. (At Holman, the sales guy was at least honest about his lack of direct knowledge and would get back to me after researching the answer to any questions I had. Other dealerships were clearly talking out their ass with respect to the LC.)

I've been reading up on landcruisers for several months (I've been a fan for years,) and I'm fixing to buy one now (finally.)

In what little I've been able to find in the way of concrete details, it seems the 2015 will be the best option for me as it offers the majority of what the 2016 will have but at a significant discount.

What is the invoice price on a 2015? Is it possible that I might be able to get a new one for less than 70k? There are local dealers here listing them for 72/73k so if I could get a little room to negotiate down then it might be possible.

Any insights would be appreciated!

Hello do some research on the web on who has what you are looking for and be willing to travel to save 1000's; Here in the North East coast of USA you are not likely to get big discount. I mentioned Holman Toyota because I worked with them back in 2013 but went with the LX; they were good and honest about the final pricing (not going down every hour by a grand or calling me back with another "BEST OFFER". Now I have to say; you are probably more knowledgable about the actual LC then the sales guys. so thats why I said search web on what is out there then begin to call and inquire about the vehicle. If the vehicle is NEW you don't need a test drive; they are basically all the same except for color.

You are form Boston I see on your name so I don't think you will get anything really discounted in our area. NYC and North Jersey is the worse; i think they actually add crazy dealer add ons like bug card etc and charge 1000's

The detailed comparison option is pretty funny. It compares the LC with the LX, Escalade and Range Rover. Funny thing is whenever the LC has a spec (HP, Torque, etc) that is greater than ANY of the three competitors, it says "Advantage" for the LC even if one of the competitors has a higher spec.

Couple things caught my eye but most noticeably it looks like the 2016 LC and Tundra now have the same brakes. (I seem to remember reading on here before this was not the case in past years). For comparison below...

2016 LC Brake Specs:

I believe the only difference in the past was a slightly smaller rotor size if I remember correctly.
Someone with an actual US spec LC may be able to chime in here... I just remember reading a thread about people talking how the Tundra had larger rotors than the LC200, the flagship SUV. a discussion of braking effort verse handling/ performance with unsprung rotational weight insued... not an expert here, just something that caught my eye...

LOL yup just noticed that also hey they simply switch nose and rear tail lights; if you notice it does not have the blinkers in the side mirrors but I don't blame Toyota its got to cost money to build theses so if they can pre fab a nose to fit the previous truck no problem. just glad to se them in the race again.


as for the web site looks like we are gonna get messed up in the USA again meaning NO TAN interior even offered on the website hopefully that will change. Really don't understand who runs the USA market for Toyota.

Also I believe the numbers for the 2016 Rover are incorrect. The new V6 now makes 390 horse, not 340. And the payload went up.

Tundra rotors are thicker, not larger. More mass to absorb the heat.

Yeah, the recently new Range Rover got several hundred lbs lighter so it's payload number probably did increase.

These sorts of comparisons are so ridiculous. There are 3 engines to choose from in Range Rover including a TDV6 with 30mpg on the highway and 440 lb ft. Too bad the thing is a technical gizmo nightmare to maintain long term.

Even more too bad we don't get to "compare" the Toyota TDV8.

Growing restless waiting for the updated 200. Went to Land Rover again today. Wife wants 200. Any idea when they will hit the lot in the states. Thought orders opened in August

Why the hell would you waste your time with that? If you both even remotely like the Land Cruiser. No sense in even slowing down near the Rover dealer. They are very sweet rides in the short term but it's simply not a 200,000+ sort of plan. The irony with the current crop of modern rovers is that the suckers who couldn't afford a new one, unwittingly buy an 8 year old Range Rover but then have a heart attack when even the most mundane things need to be replaced and the bill is 5-10 times their monthly loan payment.

It's pretty nutty when a rover owner holding the title will justify the repairs by saying "well, it's less annually than the payments were..." Do that math and get back to me

JWESTPRO. It was on a whim really. My wife's last 4 vehicles have been diesel. Range Sport now available in diesel. Not happy about going back to gas V8. Not much choice. We would like a usable third row. Also looking forward to buying this car and keeping it

I'm a fan of the new LX design. I fear, given the LC price increase, the LX will be at 100k. I'm guessing it will hit the Lexus website in another few weeks

For diesel and "real" 3rd row, Mercedes GL. Much better 3rd row. Range Rover Sport is cool but really small inside when compared to LR4, Range Rover full size, LC 200/LX, GL.
