The worth of a 2014 Land Crusier. It's white with tan interior. 35000 miles on it. I buying it for my family daily driver. How much should I be paying for one and can I count on a 2014 to be reliable. It's a one owner. They are asking 60k.

I'm getting out of our current Ford product because we dislike it. We had a4runner for years and loved it. With 4 kids we just out grew it. Looking for advice. Thank you.

IMO, The Cruiser is the wrong choice for you with 4 kids. I grew up in a household of 5 and it was tight riding in the back of the 100 series. 200 isn’t much bigger.

Love my Cruisers to death but they’re not big.

I have a 2013 with over 100k miles and it’s been reliable. Only issues have been the typical radiator and a very uncommon rear main seal leak. All other troubles have been user induced while wheeling hard off road.
If you are in the $60,000 range I would look for a 2016 or newer with higher miles. The 2014 at least has a minor re-fresh and won’t feel as dated as a 2011 or older. 2016 and newer will feel much more modern. Something to consider in regards to miles and price. The below are rare issues but do pop up time to time and can be pricey:

Coolant valley leak
Timing cover leak
Cam tower leak
Starter
Radiator

Paying a mechanic or dealer to do all these would probably be around $10k and you’d win the 200 series bingo for hitting every trouble spot of the 5.7 motor.

As said in the previous post, 4 kids is going to be tight and not enjoyable in a 200, the sequoia would be a better fit with substantially more third row room and storage.

In the fall of 2015, I dropped ~ $40K on a one owner 2013 with 65K. One owner, all service records showing everything done on time. No wrecks and all service via Toyota in Montana. It's a no-surprise truck. And that said...

I've done Texas to Philmont with 2 Dads, 3 Boy Scouts, me and everybody's stuff for a week.

We did it in a '95 Chevy Suburban, with a very full roof of Thule products. The trip was miserable, but only for 2 days each way. The 3rd row was not designed for tall kids and the Cruiser iirc is about a foot shorter definitely not as wide. You might think about renting a camping van for the trip.

I have 1 teen kid and a small terrier. We take the LX on family trips, and it has just the right amount of seating space with room to spare in the 2nd row seat and with a bit extra of cargo space in the back. With 2 kids it would be ok, adding a dog would be a little tight and the rear would likely be full of luggage and stuff; 3 kids would be very tight and definitely no dog.

3+ kids I would recommend a Sequoia or Sienna minivan.

Asking price is high, but it's still covid times and the market is crazy.

Thank you everyone for your thoughtful input.
I was pushing for a Land Crusier. It's the one vehicle I have wanted since my youth, but with 4 kids it's just not going to happen. Thank you again.

Buy a sienna and a 100 and have the best of both worlds.

This sounds like a job for a minivan, maxivan or suburban.

The first brand new vehicle I ever bought was a 2004 Suburban Z-71. Worst vehicle ever but it brought me to Cruisers. I jumped from that after 2 years (now financially broke) and bought a '97 80 series with 100,000 more miles on it. That truck is still a much loved daily driver today for my sister. It hauled my three (little) kids around just fine with the third row. The 200 will do the same, only better. Yes, it has limited room. A minivan is a great choice on paper. If you have always wished for a Cruiser, then I say get one. If it totally sucks, get something else and earn back the small amount of money you may have lost in the error. My only thought is don't pay a super premium for lower miles, that is for Ford people. The Cruiser is a safe bet with more miles/less money.

Good luck!
