I think it depends heavily on how it was used. If you are towing heavy in hot climates your clutch gets orders of magnitude more abuse than someone that never tows and lives in Canada. At the risk of hijacking the radiator thread, what is the average mileage we should expect to get out of the fan clutch? If I'm ~110k and doing the radiator, just do the fan clutch anyway? Or leave it?
Depending on how long you can have the rig down, you may consider tossing new brushes into the alternator.Had to take a break mid-job.
A couple thoughts:
• get a cheap set of Amazon hose clamp pliers and some plastic hose pinch tools.
• Long extensions (and a telescoping magnet tool, really) are needed for the lower radiator bolts.

I’m about to replace all these things (plus hoses) now that the radiator is out:

The fluid looks pretty clean, although I’m not sure what it is supposed to look like at 176k miles. If you haven’t cleaned the front of your radiator in a while, you may want to.

This belt looks really good. And aftermarket. The upper and lower hoses look new, too. We’ve put 27k miles on this since buying it with 149k miles. Looks like maybe new fluid, hoses, and belt were installed by a local shop not too long ago.

Yeah, lack of parts got me on that one this time.Depending on how long you can have the rig down, you may consider tossing new brushes into the alternator.
With the radiator out it’s about an hour of extra work, I did it today. I plan to do a write up of that job soon.. your problem is the part is rare and usually needs special ordered.
I'd say you have quite a while, but it's good you're looking into getting it sorted.2013 LC200, 49500km- how bad is it? I am based in NZ and decided to take it into the local dealership. They asked me to send them some photos and they will contact Toyota. My expectations are quite low, but lets see what they say.

4.6 Petrol, JDM import. CheersI'd say you have quite a while, but it's good you're looking into getting it sorted.
Out of curiosity is this diesel or petrol?
I applied JB Weld in this way with a fiberglass mat and it has been great for 40k miles. Zero evidence crack has expanded and zero leaks. Crossed over 150k miles and starting to put together my list of parts to replace while also replacing radiator. But that will be another post.

Looks like the crack on my radiator is really taking off: Fortunately no leak yet. 2013 with 142k. I’m trying some JB Weld high heat, 3M adhesion promoter, and fiberglass mat to patch it this week. Sanding it up just a bit beforehand too.View attachment 3625696
I’ll report back if a) I can make the patch look pretty, or b) it explodes anyway. Wish me luck…
AgreedI think that's the longest crack I've ever seen reported on here, by a pretty large margin, too.
Personally I’d just monitor it and order a radiator when you actually see the crack forming. As long as you are looking even once per oil change it won’t surprise you.. they take many miles to form and develop to the point that it can fail.Just picked up a 2017 LX570 with 110k. No sign of a crack yet but it still has the older radiator. It's been maintained at the Lexus dealer regularly and I don't see it being replaced in the services records on the Lexus app. I wonder if I should replace it as a preventititive maintenance or just get the radiator ordered and have it ready on standby once I see the crack forming.
I took it off when I did mine, knowing I couldn't get all the stuff still in the female threads so it may be a waste of time, but the torque would be close enough.I thought I read something on one thread I was browsing through regarding the sealant/RTV on some of the water pump bolts, but now I can't find it.
Should I remove the dried on sealant/RTV on these bolts before torqueing them in? I assume these gooped threads may throw off the torque value.
Thanks in advance!
After ordering a radiator last year and having it damaged in shipping, trying to find a decent deal again this year, anyone know the best prices out there now? Figured I’d ask before going locally and paying a premium.
Try to see how much shipping is here.$477 OTD at Stevinson Lexus in Frederick, CO last weekend.
Or...$370 at Lexus Parts Now in SoCal. (Shipping quoted was an additional $200)
my local dealer prices in store were higher than they were on their official Toyota parts website. After ordering a radiator last year and having it damaged in shipping, trying to find a decent deal again this year, anyone know the best prices out there now?
