Thanks guys, it was not showing any signs to me either but figured I would ask the experts!

....and the advice to save the cash for gas shows you are a 200 owner!

If you’re really worried grab a plastic repair kit and a piece of fiberglass and toss it in your car kit. I ran mine for 2 years POST crack with a patch on it.

Hello. I have a 2013 lx570. 135k. Just had the radiator changed at the dealer. They used part number

That is the old design. Toyota hasn’t made those since early 2018, they must have had it sitting around for a very long time.

It will easily last more than 100k miles but will probably have the same failure as the original eventually.

Dang that’s messed up

I would come unglued if a dealer pulled that on me

To be fair, unless you specify the new design they technically did what the customer asked, with factory parts.

It would be different if Toyota had ever formally acknowledged this issue, but they haven’t. They just quietly changed the design.

Isn’t the old part number/design superseded in the Toyota system to the new design/part number? If so they should have at least asked the customer which part they wanted installed, old design we’ve had in the back since 2019 or the updated and newer part. I wouldn’t be too happy

Good point.

@moosebakir is that -50382 number on your invoice or did you find it somewhere online?

Like with alot of our OEM parts being Denso, anyone know if Denso makes the new OEM radiators? For part 16400-50384, any of you guys see any Denso branding on your Toyota OEM? The Denso part is 2213153 and is a bit cheaper.

Denso does not make radiators for Toyotas from the factory. They are produced by a company called TRad, which I think is some kind of subsidiary, who's labeling is on new Genuine Toyota radiators bought from the parts department.

The factory radiator is pretty affordable through the parts sites, especially during one of the periodic sales.

Good to know! Thanks!

Mine has seemingly been stable with this visible but not leaking crack for a few thousand miles. Any guesses on how long before it goes? I've got 1200 miles of extended warranty left till 75k if it blows soon. But theres also a 25% parts sale currently that would be nice to get in on to have parts waiting on the shelf. Also I've got an 800 mile road trip comimg up in 3 weeks to go pick up a side of beef. Hopefully it survives that trip. Will take a gallon of coolant with me in case it starts seeping.

These typically get 1/8-1/4" longer toward the driver's side before they fail. Based on that I'd predict you having quite a bit of time before it fails even if left alone. Multiple thousands of miles, if not tens of k's.

But yours would be a great candidate for a preventative patch to strengthen the area. Lots of guys do this and basically prevent the failure entirely. Some for close to 100k. The critical detail is to do it as early as possible, definitely before it starts leaking. So that's a good option and you should be able to get it done and tested before your trip.

If you do decide to let it ride, monitor it closely for growth.
