After searching for a year, I finally picked up a 06 LC100 last week. The carfax showed 2 owners and was clean of accidents but was lacking some maintenance records. The vehicle showed signs of maintenance being done (stickers in the engine compartment, newish brakes, etc.) so I felt like I could take a chance. I used the skimpy carfax report and a pre-purchase inspection by a Toyota dealership to get the price down to a number I was happy with.

Truck has 141k miles on it.

Since picking it up I have had the water pump, timing belt, accessories belt, thermostat, and all affiliated gaskets changed as well as coolant flushed. It was leaking from the high pressure power steering hose so I had that changed and the system flushed.

I kind of wish I would have done that maintenance myself, as I might have dug a little deeper with the preventative maintenance (tensioners come to mind), but I got a pretty good deal on the vehicle so used some of the cash I saved to just get that work done at a dealership.

Still on the to do list:

Retrofit cabin filter box and filters

Once I am done with the baseline I would like to get:

I have reached out to the 3 forum members who do parts to get the ball rolling on the above maintenance.

Am I missing anything? I have been doing a ton of reading and think I have my basses covered. I will take some pictures tonight, but imagine a pretty clean stock black 100 series.

Running boards removed. Some pretty tight spots in there with the AHC. Made good use of the universal joint on that one. LC looks way better with the boards removed, I wasn't planning on sliders anytime soon but I wouldn't mind having some just for parking lot protection.

Congrats! You know everyone is waiting for pics! That's a great list to start with. Remember to load your vin to the toyota owners site, to see any dealer related history.

Not mine. Opened it up to check and had the cover with no hole in it. Seems like a pretty easy retrofit though.

I've had my cover off to vacuum 16 years of leaves out. A couple of the screws are a bit difficult to get to but it's not too bad.

Looks good! Your list of todos looks good too.
If you're thinking there's any chance at all you'll lift the truck, you might want to hold off on swapping the CVs. I've read and been told (by the guys at ACC), and experienced, that the change in angle is the likely contributor/cause of CVs failing prematurely - not the lift. That sounds redundant - since the lift causes the change. A 1-2.5" lift doesn't put the CVs at a steep angle, it's just different from where they've been for XXX,XXX miles. If the new CVs start their life at a given (lifted) angle, they'll be happy there. Again... if you're thinking of replacing and/or cranking the TBs.

Did a bit of work today. My eBay got hacked and my credit card compromised so that is slowing down my parts order but should be back on track on Monday.

With the oil change the owners manual says 6.4qt but I ended up adding 7 to get the reading right. Is this normal?

Also removed the previous owners k&n filter and put in an OEM. I saved the k&n incase y'all tell me to put it back in.

The dealer sheared 2 of the 3 front skid plate bolts so now I get to add that to the list. Just a reminder to do your own work. Anyone know what size bolts those are so I can have 3 new ones ready to go? Any merit to switching to zinc or stainless?

I would not use K&N, but that's just my opinion. Lots of info on internet about the oil that filter that cause problem. You reminded me about the bolts on the skid plate - Mine is missing a couple of them. I think I will replace them with stainless if I can find them in local hardware store.

Got my tech stream. Still learning the software but I checked my AHC.

i tested the actuator settings. First, making sure the vehicle is level and with a full tank of gas and the wheel straight, I put the suspension in low, then I raised it to neutral. I ran the actuator test and these are my results:

image_zpsg0hngimc.jpeg

Front - 7.5
Rear - 6.8
Accumulator - 10.3

Now I don't really know what to do with that data. I have AHC fluid coming so I will be flushing the system soon. Is there a list of tolerances somewhere?

EDIT

I found this data in another thread:
6.9 +/-0.5 front
5.6-6.7 rear

Thanks to @PADDO

So it looks like I have to adjust the front T-bars a couple turns clockwise.

M8-1.25 x 20mm

I've replaced a couple of mine with grade 10.9 flange bolts. A few years down the road and no rust on them yet.

Each turn of the TB clockwise gets you approximately .2mpa. so it looks like you need about 3 turns. Use white nail polish to mark the bolt and adjuster so you can tell how many turns you've made.

Stoked! I'm looking for a 2006 myself. Congratulations on your purchase. Did you have to travel far for it?
