Spent another day on it this weekend. Replaced lower ball joints with 555 units from Cruiser Outfitters. Driver’s ball joint was in very bad shape, passenger side was not that bad but replaced them both. Also replaced the window moldings. Overall it was a productive weekend. Just waiting for more parts to arrive now. Next up is front and rear sway bar refresh, flush power steering fluid, replace the front diff support arms that are shot and replace CV axle shafts & drive flanges.

Pics of the progress.

Great work on all this—I’ve enjoyed following the progress!

I just acquired all the parts from Cruiser Outfitters for the LBJ replacement for my ‘07 as well. I’m a bit anxious with it being my first go at such a project —I’m hoping to rent a press kit from local Advanced Auto for the LBJ but not sure on what is best for the UBJ separation to disassemble?

Just hit the flat edge of the UBJ with a BFH hammer. Once it moves you’re good.

Looking very good. Happy for you and your "assistants"!

No new photos, but getting down to the end of the list on this one. The A/C leak was in the condenser and one of the lines, so replaced those with OEM parts and the A/C is ice cold now. I started aggressively going after the driveline clunk (coast to accelerate not the R to D type). I narrowed most of the clunk down to the front end, so to diagnose I removed the front driveshaft and locked the CDL. The clunk was virtually gone, except for a slight clunk in the rear. It was 95% better. I thought that translated to replace the front driveshaft to fix the clunk. I bought a new OEM driveshaft and installed, and still have the clunk. It is better than before, but still there. The driveline clunk is proving to be a real PITA. Overall, very happy with the rig and in less than a month my son will be a legal driver and this will be his.

In other news, I started a Land Cruiser/MTB blog site earlier this year and there are a few 100 series articles out there on this truck. Give it a click if you like cruisers and mountain bikes. TEQ Adventure
