Those were the only two fixes I’m aware of, the power signal and power amp on in menu (make sure you save and reboot after, can’t just toggle). I ended up running an aftermarket 5 channel amp off the RCAs, I couldn’t stand the ground loop noise. Another option anyway ;)

Good news -- I managed to get the new PX6/Android 8.1 unit installed in my 2006 LX470 tonight. All of the harnesses were an exact match from the PX3/Android 6.0 unit that had been installed, so this time it was really just a matter of transferring the OEM black box over to the new radio and swapping the vents/buttons from the grey plastic side panels that came with the PX3 to the faux-cherry burl wood side panels that came with the PX6 unit. (They're a big improvement.)

Happy to report that all speakers and the subwoofer work perfectly; a rousing success all around. The PX6 is also blazingly fast compared to the decade-old PX3, which is over-matched by nearly all of today's "staple" apps like Waze, and pretty much all streaming video. If you're considering buying a PX3 unit to save a few bucks, don't. You will regret it immediately.

Anyway, here's a brief rundown of my initial impressions of the PX6 head unit; happy to get additional specific shots, if requested:

tl;dr - buy one.

Hi I just got my unit for a 06 lc and I install it but I get no sound I was wonder if I could get a little help please!!!

I am having no luck with the climate/or audio. . They said they sent the new harness, but now I have doubts they did:(

Seems like way to many unused connections..

What was the fix for your climate issue? I have the same harness but have one plug in the factory loom that is not accounted for in the supplied loom. My air direction and fan speed works but no temp control.

Lastly, connect everything together. I used a t-tap (they're the best) to connect my speaker ground wire to the vehicle harness. This allows for easy removal if necessary and only leaves behind a small wire prick. I also circled the correct wire to connect the gray wire to if you don't have a pink wire in your new harness (this is switched power for the amplifier). You can also use a t-tap for that connection.

This is the diagram that I used to track down the amplifier wiring. Thanks to another Mud member for this diagram (sorry - I don't remember who I stole it from several weeks ago!)

That's it, that's all!

Enjoy your new headunit!

Hello,
Just found your post… awesome! Thank you!
My wife has a 2006 Land Cruiser, and I got the same/similar unit. Your post was extremely helpful, and I followed your instructions to connect the RCA out to the other black to white harness. All wires and colors matched, but still no sound. Climate, etc all work. The Amp preferences in the “console” menu will not change (e.g., volume set to 0). My harness does not have the pink wire, so I followed your instructions to connect the grey.
Thoughts?
Thanks,
-Jeremy

dear everyone just installed a px6 from phoenix on my 2004 lx 470 everything works great except the AC it is all gray menu and when you try to use it nothings work.
can you guide me on these?
d
- do i have to setup something into the car
- do i have to plug something or a link between the black AC ecu and the tesla unit?

Does anyone know how to wire up a rear camera? Mine is 03 so it I have to install a 3rd party that just has a plain ole video plug. I think I remeber the screen having a connector for that but how does it know to pull up the camera when I'm reversing?

You need a 6V to 12V converter, I found one that a lot of Subaru WRX guys use if you search. Stock camera is 6V, radio is 12V … you can either do this or upgrade camera. Good luck!

So my car doesn't actually come with a camera. I bought one that's 12 volt. What I was curious is once I plug it in, how do I turn on whatever program that runs and shows the footage and I put it in reverse how does the head unit know when the car is in reverse?

There is a reverse wire labeled in the harness, that will put camera app on screen when you shift into reverse. Know the details are in one of these threads, got mine working several years ago.
That's exactly what I was hoping for. Should be easy to find but I didn't want to take apart my headunit if I had to order something first. Thank you!

I finally got around to installing the radio into my 04 LC. Everything works but the sound. Any suggestions before I start cutting the harness.

It’s a 2004 with Navi and JBL.

I just did mine last week with the G6 from Phoenix and had no sound initially but was able to get sound from the right side speakers by opening the equalizer, scrolling over to two screens with the "Gain" dials and playing around wiht them. I made sure the Amp was turned on in the settings page, the internal volume was turned up to 50 and then could get it after that.
Left speakers are no go but now after reading about a possible NAV connection that needs to be bypassed, I might try that. Still don't have rear defrost or heated mirrors either and am scheudling a service meeting with Phoenix next week.

My mic stopped working though, after I pulled the unit out to install a new backup camera. Not sure if it is a bug or if somehting came unplugged when I did that.

Did you just have to plug in the video feed to the harness and it worked?

Finally getting ready to take the plunge on this. I have a 2003 LC, so no factory backup. I also am planning on replacing factory amp and speakers. Would love advice on a few questions before I do:
  1. Any difference in going with Rhino or Phoenix?
  2. Backup camera - Should I add the $10 unit they both offer, or go with some different unit? And where/how to mount the camera?
  3. Phoenix lists Segey software as an option, but says it's for PX6 and Android 9. Current unit seems to be G6 and Android 11. In the FB Tesla radio group, lots of people recommend Sergey's software... ?? But Android 9 seems like probably less app compatibility?
  4. Both Rhino and Phoenix say the radios have built in CarPlay and Android Auto, but then also sell such as a "popular accessory" ?? (my default would be to use wired CarPlay so my phone is charging while also preserving (in theory) higher quality audio over USB??
  5. ODBII - I have a BT unit I share between all my cars, but adding one to purchase to leave in for this application seems reasonable, and they aren't much, but WHY would the BT unit say it "doesn't fit vertical screens"? Does the WiFi interfere with using hotspot WiFI?
I think that's all the questions I have for now, but happy to take any advice as well. A lot of the information on the forums is either old and/or buried in log threads. I have tried to read everything and think I have enough info to do this, but some of the info may be old, so having current advice would be great :)

Here's a photo from someone else that helped me with the install along the way. I forgot to take a picture of this part. However, my wires were a different color than these, but still in the same pins on my vehicle.

Can anyone help this bozo figure out what I’m looking at here? Where are these two NAV DVD wires at? I’ve got either no audio or distorted audio. Hoping this brings power to the amp.
