The OEM fuse blows? If Mr T did his homework and used the correct fuse to protect the headlight wires, what's the worry?

I was just saying.

Again I am an electrical idiot, with that said are those kits per bulb or pair?

ie, will I need 3 or 6 of them?
\

You need 1 relay harness kit per kit. If they run fine and have no issues then don't worry about it. If your a*al about safety and protecting stuff then get them. Like 96r50 said, it's just a fuse that will blow. I had no choice but to make a relay because mine didn't even attempt to start up

I have no issues, but just trying to understand what all is being said.

pulling the high power draw from the ballast start up off the landcruiser's factory lighting system. It pulls power from the battery rather than the 100 which goes through fuses and stock wires. Safer in my eyes, but for some it's not necessary. I think its all about what kit you have. You seen to be fine.

I don't think you even have to be anal about safety. I'd rather protect my system than risk it, even if it's "just a fuse". Downstream is the ECU and those are expensive.

Was is not you that had an aftermarket relay harness melt on them way back when - Just saying:hhmm:

Got my two 55 watt slim ballasts and two wiring harnesses. gonna install them in the low beam and the fog lights. I wish my garage was clean so i could put them in now.

which ballast did you order MXNDRINKS? I bought the slims and am interested in those brackets.

These brackets came in today. They hold the ballast pretty snug if any one is looking for a bracket.

Good to hear, I bought a pair based on your link. For $6 shipped I guessed I couldn't go too wrong.

anythony which ballasts did you order, slim or regular?

do you think they will work to hold the slim ballasts in place??

Honestly I dont know. But, I am guessing they wouldnt hold it snug. And in the end you wouldnt be happy with the way they hold it. If you are comfortable modifying the bracket, you could probably make it work. Folow the link I posted. He has the Dimensions for the bracket posted. Then compare it to the size of the slim ballast you have and you will know how far off it would be if at all.

I received my wiring harness yesterday. I just ordered the brackets mentioned. Will wait till they arrive to install. Where did you end up installing the ballast using the brackets?

Yes, on the Slee harness on my 80 the bulb sockets deformed. A couple other people reported this as well. Dunno if it was a quality of harness problem or what. And I still advocate using a relay and harness. Almost any decent set of after-market lights have one available and it's not just to sell more wires. Just saying.

Probably going to call DDM today and cancel, been a month since they charged my card and no communications about a delay or anything. Bummer.
