New tires today got bolted onto my first 200. The truck is at stock height. The fellow who assisted me at the local Les Schwab told me their 275/70/18 Mazama Open Range (built by Sumitomo) has a diameter of 33.4" and width of 11.1". I was pleased that they barely fit with zero rubbing at full turn angles. It appears this size is a maximum diameter/width for a stock 200 without requiring wheel well plastic trimming or mud flap removal.

Edit: Today I noticed light rubbing with wheel cranked while moving in reverse, coming from front of tire.

The light rubbing was in fact happening behind the front tires. So I removed the front mud flaps and no more rubbing. I'm really happy with these tires, including their size.

Just installed some new wheels and tires over the weekend. Went with a 295/70/17 M/T. Based on my search on here, doesn't seem to be a popular size. In fact, I think I found only 2 other people on here who are running this size.

Wheels:
Method 313 17" x 8.5"
+25mm offset
23.5lbs each

Tires:
General Grabber X3 295/70/17
Overall diameter 33.3"
Section width 11.8"

Bought this size knowing I had to do some trimming. The level of trimming was semi involved if you don't mind getting wild with a dremel tool. Doing a similar modification that I had previously done of my 5th gen 4Runner, I was able to move the front liner forward about 1.5" or so. Combined with some trimming of the inner wheel well (lower mudflap?), theres a mile of clearance up front. It get's tricky towards the back. Spent some time with the dremel and a heat gun and I have some solid clearance back there that will hopefully increase once I get realigned with some additional caster.

Some of the trimming involved. Sideskirt bracket was bent back, redrilled a new hole and added a longer bolt to pull in this area of the sideskirt. Liner needs to be heated and formed as well, which I performed after taking this photo.

Your truck looks fantastic! I have the same (LX570 2015-Black). Just purchased a set of 17" Evo's 8x17- 40ET. Question...do you think the 40ET (vs your +25mm) would reduce or increase the rubbing hot spots and required trim modifications?

I am going with ko2's ...but can't decide between 295/70 vs 285/70. 295 looks best. But blank canvas and hindsight...would you have done the 285's instead of the 295's?

A 285/70r17 would fit with probably no rubbing at all. You can do a 285/75R17 and deal with a little rubbing, but only have to adjust plastic to get it working. I suspect a 295/70R17 would be somewhere in between. I don’t think many tires come in that size, being the primary reason for why it’s not popular.

Do you mean deal with rubbing AND plastic adjustment or do you mean that after adjusting plastic, i.e. moving the liner or trimming mud flaps, you would still have some rubbing?

Thank you very much for your response. Yeah…I kinda thought the 295/70 would require just a bit of plastic manipulation but would look perfect with no other changes to the stock setup. I use Discount Tire here in KC area and the 295/70 KO2’s are back ordered I think they said about 15 weeks. Crazy times. Not sure it’s worth the wait. The 285/70-17’s (E’s) are in stock. I have some tread left on the OEM 20’s with Michelins…so maybe I’ll just wait for the 295’s.

The dealing with rubbing is the adjusting of plastic. 34” in 285 width only needs massaging plastic to get a good fit, as long as you have a good wheel offset.

I will be replacing my wheels and tires soon. Is there a market for OEM wheels and tires with 5k miles? If so, what's a good price to sell?

My OEM wheels with 5k mile tires are sitting under my deck under plastic, because I assume there is little to no market. If you do find somewhere to sell them let me know how. I haven’t really tried but if I was getting less than $400 for them, I just assume let them sit in case for some reason I need them, even with the clock ticking on age of rubber.

Hey friends. Need some fitment and color guidance for our 2014 Cruiser. Currently on Iron Man 2” lift with ARB 2721 springs on 285/70/17 K02’s on rock warriors (pic below).

My wife and I hate the iron man suspension and we are switching to a BP51 set-up. We haven’t decided if we are going to do the 1 inch or 2 inch lift and the 2720 or 2721 rear springs. We want to keep the tires and put them on the Icon Vector 5 17 inch wheel so we can ditch the spacers.

Will the 285/70/17 fit with a 1” lift and .5” out back (2720 rear springs) without spacers or do I need to go with the bigger lift. Currently no rubbing issues.

Second question - should we go bronze or matte black on the wheels? I brought out the titanium but didn’t love it..

Bronze all day.
Recommend you checking out the tire and wheel thread to answer your second question.

Access to the original seems to have been lost to time. We have started a new version with a survey here and results that can be filtered/sorted here. It's not encyclopedic yet, but every 200 added to the survey helps fill out the database.

Currently rolling on Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T in LT275/70R18.

Just finished adding to the survey and attached some pics. Also adding one of my bookmarks with a the links with the quote above, hopefully more will add to.

I'll update my signature shortly with particulars. *updated

I’m running 285/70-17 with +35 offset. Had considerable rubbing on the front mud flaps. Was able to corrrect it with 2 hours of heat gun/zip tie work. Or could have just taken the flaps off, which I still may do.

I wouldn’t have expected the 15mm less offset to make that much difference. Most people who run that size (especially on RWs, say it works with no rubbing).

I didn’t have any rubbing when I had 275/60-20 on the OEM 20’s. As you can see the “before” picture it rubbed starting at about half way to lock.

Currently has a very tired 2" OME suspension. Next year will be upgraded to something else.

Your question about how much lift solely depends on how you plan to use the ride. If mall crawling go smaller if you plan to take off road then go taller. Taller will help with tire size and won't limit future sizes.

Besides 285/55/20, what else would fit without rubbing a 20x9" wheel with 20ET offset.
Could I go 305/55 without rubbing? Any ideas appreciated

Sorry I looked through that thread already
305/55 fits with stock wheels plus 1" inch spacers so basically 35ET, I was asking if 20ET will fit without rubbing, trimming, any kind of heat gunning, nothing at all.
Thanks.

A 305/55 is 0.5” taller and 1” wider then what I’m running with a 35ET and I had to significantly modify the front mud flaps. Now if you are willing to remove the flaps probably won’t have to do anything else.

I had to do zero mods when I had 275/55-20 on the OEM rims. They did rub slightly on Low at full lock in reverse. I think that is the largest tire you can run with truly no modifications. Now if you are using spacers it will increase the swing arch and even with a 32” could get rub at full lock.

So right now I'm running 285/55/20 K02 on BBS wheels which are 55ET, will I have a problem running the same tire on the new 20x9 20ET? Sounds like I won't
