Yep, a 35 inch tire the ideal offset is around 40mm to 35mm.
Now, ideal means different things to different people depending on use and look.
40mm is where the scrub radius is ideal.
25mm is where poke might be ideal
0mm is where hardcore off-road (using tire as a protector for the door panels) is ideal
And so on.
As to the Alphaequipt wheels in 17” by 8.5 at 35mm, yes they are perfect for 35” tire.
I had a set mounted yesterday and as soon as Christmas morning wraps up I’ll take some pics.

Good stuff! I don't know if it's anecdotal and I've been trying to find specific construction differences without much success. But I find that flotation / inch sizing tires seem to be inherently different in construction with more sidewall bulge. Aired down, seem to have more sidewall flex. As opposed to LT / millimeter sizing tires that are focused more on load carrying and handling with stiff and straighter sidewalls. So even if tires have similar overall dimensions, they are biased for different qualities.

That could be it. My first set of Flotation tires on this rig. They seemed about the same width as the 275s unmounted, but mounted up wider looking for sure.
I am excited to see how the ride compares once I get the psi correct (predictably set at 32 by the shop) and have some miles on them. I did feel the load E was pretty stiff, particularly when new, it improved as the sidewalls wore in, but it took thousands of miles to do so.

Offset already factors in wheel width (it’s calculated from the center of the wheel, so overall width is irrelevant), so the offset is still +35. Backspacing is the number that can change depending on wheel width since it is indexed from the edge of the wheel.

Hi all. Needing for some tire recommendations...

Looking at running a 18x9 +25 wheel setup, but don't want to do any body modifications on the vehicle beyond perhaps the removal of mudflaps.

What would be the optimal tire size to avoid rubbing - 285/65/18, 275/70/18, other? In my research it seems a 285/70/18 might require some plastic trimming even with alignment set to not hit KDSS / sway bar?

You can use this calculator to determine changes in scrub radius given different combinations of tire size and rim offset. For instance, if we start with the OEM tires and rims (285/60R18, 18x8 with +60mm offset) moving to a 285/70R18 tire and a rim with an offset of +25mm (or the OEM rim with a 1.25" spacer) then the scrub radius will increase by 26mm. It is generally agreed that keeping the change in scrub radius to less than 10mm is optimal, but often this is not possible.

Don't mind removing, relocating or cutting plastic. Then the tough part with these offsets, what is the largest tire size and brand?

Option 2 (17” et35) is best for suspension geometry and fitment. A 33” (285/70R17) should fit fairly easily. Anything bigger will need plastic reworked and maybe KDSS avoidance, but certainly possible.

The RCTIP (Recommended Cold Tire Inflation Pressure) for those LT285/70R18 tires on your LC200 HE is 38psi F/R.

I have a 2009 LC and cant seem to find a definitive answer on the following. Car currently has a the foam cell pro lift, arb front bumper and RW wheels.
Will I have issues with 285/75/17 I dont mind a bit of heating but want to avoid issues with major rubbing on full lock.
I looked all over but cant seem to find an answer- please don't shoot

Run it where you like it depending on weight of the rig. 32-38 PSI you are fine and dandy.

I believe the answer is...."It depends".... Starting at the below thread is a conversation by some lightly modified LCs with RW and that tire size. I run that setup on my LX with no issue aside from having moved some plastics, but i don't have to worry about the KDSS mounts/links.

Thanks so much I did come across that one as well its just odd that the answer is truly "it depends" I will get my 285/75/17s on order and hopefully I am good to go. Will post an udpate when they get fitted
