I have been told 285/75/17 does not need KDSS relocation. It’s so conflicting

I have not found a single solid example of such size without KDSS relo that would not rub *some* under load. People muck with spacers, pushing caster out of spec, etc. and these measures minimize rubbing but not eliminate them completely.

KDSS relo would be fine if someone developed custom end links. Stockers are stressed and don't last.

Ok, I have dug through the data base and searched on here and am bringing myself around to the same question because I'm kinda cheap and only want to buy one set of new tires... I have an OME lift and am wanting to put RWs on to replace the stock wheels - Will a 285/75/17 fit on a 13 LC without the Spidertrax spacers or are they the only way that tire size will fit? I'm not afraid of heating up the plastics to fit them in either way, but am ready to get these bad boys ordered and on! Thanks in advance for putting up with the question...

All I know is, I have a 2013 LC200 with 17" TRD Alloy Wheels (a.k.a. Rock Warriors), and I installed the only tire size Toyota officially recommends for that wheel and vehicle combo: LT285/70R17 BFG KO's - and I have never had any kind of tire fit issue. Never.

Here's the Toyota document endorsing the combo: Toyota Installation Sheet for 17" TRD Alloy Wheels

Frankly, I never understood the willingness to accept (and work around) all of the resulting negatives of trying to gain an extra 1/2" of ground clearance when there is a proven, Toyota recommended, solution.

YMMV

Truth be told, my OME lift (and a lot of other things we do to our cruisers) aren't factory approved by Toyota either - hence why I was looking to others for their experience as I've relatively recently jumped to the 200 from the 100 & 60 side of the fence.

I've seen the factory notice about the combo listing the tire size for a stock 200 series but figured there would/could be different possible fitments for a lifted vehicle I might want to know before buying a new set of tires to fit the new wheels. Either way, thanks for your help.

Just put TRD Pro BBS wheels with 275/70/18 BFG KO2s on the 18 LX. No rubbing or issues. Just thinking I should have maybe got the 285 width?

If I'm not mistaken I believe you do need spacers to run 285/75/17 with RW. Also depending on which tire you go with will affect how much it impacts you. @Markuson are you able to run that without spacers

Thank god somebody finally posted this. I didn't go with the TRD rims but instead picked up a set of black 18" rims you typically see on the Tundra/Sequoia. Came with 275/70/18 Duratracs, which I need to take to be installed because sadly the rims all came unbalanced.

Until just now I had never seen this actually posted on a LX - thanks!!!

Pizza slicers are my hesitation to running 275s as well.
I think maybe I just need about a half inch spacer? The width of the tire is ok for me, but it’s the fact they are so tucked inside the wells that had me thinking.

On my rock warriors (+50 offset) I do run 1.25” spacers with 285/75/17 Ridge Grapplers. I think I could just make it without...but its been a ling time and not sure.

Personally I think the combo is just about perfect placement for my preferences.
-Kept just within the wheel wells... No rubbibing anywhere—With UCA forward a bit (SPC) and TJM T13, so not much skirtibg in front.

Thanks @Markuson - Yours is exactly what I am looking for, so thanks for the input!

Here is mine with the same size Toyo ATs and the black Tundra wheels.

Pizza slicers? 275s are 1 cm narrower than a 285.
Hey! People pay a premium for that 4/10 of an inch extra width, and incrementally smaller actual height they never knew they needed.

Sweet.

Please please take a baseline decibel reading on a repeatable route, and then repeat at 5k or 10k. This would be really valuable data for those thinking about MTs.
Finally got a chance to get a reading on this. I'm about 500 miles in with the tires, not sure how much it would differ with 0 miles. At 75mph I was at a consistent 70-71dB. This is with the HVAC on. Will report back at 5k.

I picked up a set of 2017 LC wheels to use with some all season highway tires. I had a tire credit after warrantying our my old general grabber ATXs so I figured I’d save my kenda klever RTs for off road use and enjoy the benefits of a milder and lighter All season tire.
Kept with a LT Tire to have the extra durability.
Have only put a few miles on them but so far the difference is substantial, no road noise and a much smoother and responsive drive. Used the carista app and OBDII reader with my phone to program the new denso tpms sensors, worked like a charm.

Wheeling Set up
Evo Corse wheels 18x8.5 45mm offset w/
Kenda klever RT LT275/70r18 (41psi)
Tire & Wheel: 89.7 lbs
33.25"-Unmounted height
32.25"-mounted height
Mounted tread width: 9.25"

highway setup
Stock 2017 wheels 18x8 56mm offset w/
Nokian One HT LT275/70r18 (41psi)
Tire & Wheel: 84.3 lbs
Unmounted height 33"
mounted height 32"
Mounted Tread width: 8.75"

With these new highway tires the looks department is severely lacking compared to the Kendas with the evo corse wheels so I’ll have to get used to the neutered look of the cruiser. The new Lt275/70r18 Nokians easily clear all KDSS sway bars which is nice for a change. No more rubbing at full Steering wheel lock!

After I get some mileage on these new tires I’ll report back with updates and mpg differences. Crossing my fingers I see a boost from the 12-14 MPGs that I am seeing with the Kendas.

You'll definitely see a boost in mpg which will make it worth the loss in look department. On highway I've gained 4mpg with my street bias tires compared to my MTs.

Wow very cool. Thats a great improvement. Dis you go with a E LT tire or a P rated?

I got Goodyear "ATs" in LT275/70/18 E, so they're actually a tad taller than my MTs yet I still got great improvements. I'd assume you would see similar or better.

Does anyone know the offset on the factory toyota tundra steelys? Or does anyone know the biggest tire you can do on steel ones? 275/70/18 is all I can find right now. that seem to fit with no rubbing maybe
