My wife kept complaining about the step up on the lifted 200 so I went on a search for step options. Unfortunately our market is not big enough for companies like poweramp to import steps so I tried shipping from Australia… they wanted close to 4K! My next thought was to go straight to the manufacturers in China and see if they would sell directly which was harder than I thought. They want you to buy in the thousands to ship them over!

Anyway, I finally found one I liked that would play ball and send me a single unit to test out. So far, I’m really impressed. I had some wiring issues at first but they actually were very responsive. I also had to modify the mounts to work with our KDSS. So far they’ve only seen a ton of rain but not mud and sand yet. Once I put them through their paces I’ll update this for anyone that might be interested in getting a set. They’ll give my significantly cheaper shipping if I order 6 so maybe we can figure out a group buy.

Here’s some pics in the meantime

Just keep the one side🤐😜

Just curious... I'm assuming these are not bolt in and require some modifications on the truck?

Oddly interested.

100% interested, I would love if you could get me a pic of them open and closed from underside.
If this can close over the AHC tubing, and somewhat protect the globes, I'm totally in.
I need a solution that works with my rockers too, different than LC, but im willing to cut the front and rear trailing edges to do it.

Thanks for making a new post on this, I really prefer this option. Its slim and unobtrusive, and for someone that wont rock crawl, perfect for my needs.

Interested as well! I had looked for some of these a year or so ago for the kids and wife to get in and out but that's as far as I took the search. How long was the install? Difficult to make the mods to get them working?

cool! The Aussie powersteps are marketed as rocker panel protectors (not quite sliders)
Do they look durable to be "protectors"
Do they have lights too?

Actually these are an easy bolt on solution. They use existing mounting locations. I’ll do a write up or video of the install.

These are not sliders so they are light and don’t need any welding but they also won’t protect you against big boulders.

I meant AHC not KDSS! Sorry my brain is all over the place because I've also been looking into wheel/tire options since I'm not really liking the new 33" Mickey Thompsons I got. It clears but I had to modify the mounting plates. I would try to have the manufacturer update these for an order but I'm guessing it won't be enough orders for them to change. If that's the case I can modify and paint them prior to shipping out to everyone. It's only the drivers front that need to be dremeled a bit.

That's actually the vendor I tried first. His account says you can order 1 for testing or 5 to start but when I contacted him it was a different story. He has a client in the US that he works with and I would have to order through them. So I called and tried that route but the guys are in Alabama (I think) and won't order for the LC so it was a dead end. I tried again and asked if he has some kind of exclusive deal (I know he doesn't) and that's when he gave me the 2000 orders per year! Those are the same units they sell in Australia and have two motors. I think they are the best out there but can't get anyone to ship them out to the US. It's crazy.

Wiring shouldn't be a problem. We just have to tap into 2 wires. I didn't use they obd2 dongle either. It's cleaner to wire directly.

Why won't they do them for the LC? Seems easier to clear KDSS lines than AHC globes!

I have these steps with the illumination kit. My PO had them shipped in from Australia. I had intended to remove them after the purchase but, with my lift and tires, they make it really easy for the little ones to get in and out of the truck.

If anyone has questions, holler at me.

Yeah, they are telling me the same thing. Rough Country

You can try to do a group buy. Find like… lets say 5 other owners who want this and order 10 of them. That will maybe work?

If this fits around AHC and its bash tubes, im buying. The one in @MrEPoo pictures also looks more beefy in hinge hardware.

Interested as well, likely for two pair, if someone is keeping track of potential orders.

If you haven't already, message AMP research. They make good steps already for the Tacoma, Tundra, Sequoia, Hilux, and 4R.

EDIT: Sliders these things are NOT. I wouldn't trust them to keep my rockers, etc dry, let alone against hard contact.
