The 200 was niche and few. Qualities that attract me to it. The 250s and GX550s are not it. Toyota is flooding the gates with those. Like I said above, it is a prefect replacement for the 5th gen runner, so you will see as many as you used to (still) see those. The real conundrum is when the 6th gen runner hits the dealers. I guess we'll see...I recently drove from Dallas TX to central Maine in my newly acquired LX. While I’m sure I missed some, I saw 3 100’s, 3 200’s, and countless 250’s over the 2100 mile drive.
As a current 80 owner, I found this thread while investigating the LX570 as a replacement for my aging 450.I am curious if all of those "Bring back an 80 series sized truck, base model, cloth seats" folks have put their money where their mouth is and bought a 1958 trim. Adjusted for inflation, the $55k sticker price is very slightly cheaper than the $25k sticker price was in 1992 for a cloth seat 80 series.
Exactly the same thing here (Idaho Falls). I pretty much know where all the 200’s live around here. I can count them on one hand.I’m seeing several 250’s out by us, all driven by young women.
There are a few 200’s I see often and several are older women, a couple of them blue hairs. Eventually they will be the much fantasized “little old lady” garage find with low miles and shopping cart dings. Fingers crossed I can score one of those.
Same phenomena happened (and still does) with the GX460. 9 out of 10 female driven. It is no coincidence the exact opposite happens with the 200 - 9 out of 10 male driven. And every 250 was being driven by a young female.

I've now driven both the new 250 Series and LX600 and have the same gripe about both: No split tailgate. I wrote a whole editorial about it. I'm mad as hell - it's the Land Cruiser feature I use the most.
If they ever release an updated 250 with the correct trunk access solution, then I will buy one. Until that day comes, I'll be shopping for a 200.
Curb rash has entered the chatlol funny how when I’m shopping for used luxury SUVs how many have been in accidents
To be fair, I did the dumbest thing many years ago in my BMW.Curb rash has entered the chat
I can one-up that.To be fair, I did the dumbest thing many years ago in my BMW.
I curbed my rear wheel by cutting a turn too short...in a Starbucks drive thru.![]()
In about 1990 my brother bought his first car, a Yugo for $750. His 16 year old self decided it was a good idea to see how well he could Drive with his eyes closed… he went over a curb at 10 mph or so and completely ripped the front wheel off. Three of us picked up the passenger side, put it on blocks and did the repair with: sheet metal, u bolts, wire hangers and JB weld. He drove it for 3 more years (locally only around South Lake Tahoe).I can one-up that.
19 years old, first car, 1992 Integra. First annual snowfall, went "drifting" in a parking lot. Rear axle slid sideways right into a curb that was covered by snow. Paid $3k for the car, and then about $1500 for the repairs on the axle.
Last I saw of that car was when I traded it into a dealership with a piece of household romex wiring duct-taped to the battery terminals and running directly to the radiator fan, which was otherwise not working, and the car overheating.
Yugo! One of my college roomies got a brand new Yugo and we were going to the bars first day he bought it. I moved the seat back to get in back and ripped the seat off the track. We drank anyway. Side story LC related- FJ40 was my 1st car in 83. It was already almost rusted in 1/2 when I got it.In about 1990 my brother bought his first car, a Yugo for $750. What did you expect?I sat in a 250 just to see what all the fuss is about. My buddy and I were shocked at how cheap it felt. The door seemed hollow and when you press down on the switches, the enter stack flexes. The plastic around the instrument cluster flexes as well. Very disappointing for a vehicle built in 2024. Nothing felt or looked premium for the amount of money you’re spending.
yup let the poor people enjoy their 250$60k isn't much these days, unfortunately. Still a helluva lot cheaper than a brand new 200 in 2021 though.
The one we sat in was $73k not $56k and wouldn’t compare it to a 200 series in value. What did you expect?
They dropped the price from $77k in 2021 which is roughly $90k in 2024 $
To starting at $56k with the 250
That’s roughly a ~$30k price drop. Of course it feels cheaper….it is cheaper.
