If you are a craven torque lover, EVs can’t be beat.
It depends on what you need the torque for and if it’s for towing EV’s aren’t there yet. You did list many reasons where EV’s do shine and I can accept their roles where it makes sense.

Currently, while towing with my Cruiser I can go almost 600 miles before needing to refuel and I can attain that range within 10 minutes and be back on the road. 70% of the miles I put on my Cruiser are towing and the others are off road or the middle of no where. When EV’s can exceed my current set up then I may take a look.

An E-lectric vehicle might be fine if all one does is drive around in a city. But in places like Wyoming, or northern Arizona, keeping it charged could be a big pain in the yass.

How do you go 600 miles towing? I guess a super small trailer and massive aux tank? better way to phrase it is what are you towing?

I only get ~150 miles per tank towing my camper (22’ outdoor RV) with the LX. In remote AK that means I have to stop every time there is a gas station, sometimes every 80-100 miles. Without the camper when I have my RTT and/or warrior basket and/or skybox I’m lucky to get 200 miles between fill ups.

I’m in Alaska, 10 years now with 2 teslas. Most places (with the exception of Dalton and Dempster) require less time charging my EV than it would to get gas. Alaska is Way more remote the Wyoming or northern AZ. Alaska is 7 times larger in terms of land area with ~20 times the geographic spread then WY with about the same population.

I will admit I’ve never had to wait for a supercharger stall on long trips and sometimes it is a 20-30 min wait in line for gas pumps.

@coleAK

- Why we are discussing EV's in a Land Cruiser forum? Most car enthusiast do not care at all about EV's.
- And how is towing a serious travel trailer in Alaska relevant to EV's or something a Land Cruiser is not good at? Maybe move your discussion to a Rivian or Tesla forum and live your dream?

40 LRA and a 4500 pound trailer. Our last 3 week trip we had multiple tanks over 500 miles averaging 9.5 MPG’ish per tank. We don’t suffer fuel anxiety thanks to the LRA. It’s a game changer for our type of travel.

Pretty relevant to the discussion of 200
As the last of a breed. I’ve owned at least one LC (or LX) for going on 30 continuous years. EVs are the future (most likely). And I’m probably not replacing my 200 (with another LC (or LX), sadly.

Are you trying to convince yourself or us? The later is an absolute waste of time. Suggest you find a Rivian or Tesla forum and find some friends living the dream.

Can't see what your referencing but the block feature works most excellent for this forum.

Y’all are wild sometimes.

“No way a real enthusiast would enjoy an EV”

Real enthusiast: “actually I quite enjoy mine”

“Oh yea well you can’t do hard stuff or live in remote place with an EV”

Alaskan native: “actually I do”

“Get out of here and go to another forum 👉

It’s so dumb. Drive what you want.

What he said!!!

Tangential, but the future is unknown to the public. They are releasing the first look at what their brainstorming behind the scenes for the next generation like this concept

In addition, we do know they are benchmarking alot of particle ev offerings from rivian and tesla and legacy oems. If one direction of LC will include evs, we should see some mules (if you when were to look ;) ) similar to how they were testing the 300 series chassis in the south west under 200 series cabins.

Absolutely, drive what you want. Seems that in a thread about the 200 series attributes, it’s devolved into an EV vs gasser debate. IMO there are enough of those threads here on mud.

I don't think its dumb, everyone has their own experience and interpretation of "hard stuff or remote place". One might think that Alaska doesn't have the charging network. I would argue that it's still much better than most parts of Siberia and so on. An online forum is a place to discuss these opinions, though perhaps not in this particular thread...

One thing we can agree on, land cruisers should have tailgates.

Does that get this thread back on track?
