Especially the Overtrail version of the LX600 and LX700.
with all the bearings problems and new motors needed on the new 600, makes me sad

i had high hopes for the 600 being the 200 replacement—- however with this trash motor it is an embarrassment

Willstroo,
Would you expand on this? What was wrong with the 300?
I have been thinking that the LX600 was the best successor to the LC200 available to us.
I have always preferred n/a engines, particularly V8’s, the noise, the instant throttle response. From what I have read the Toyota 300 series diesel (australia), it is a capable and efficient engine by many accounts, but to me it’s still laggy and completely underwhelming. No soul. No smiles.

The cabin was ok, not cramped, but also not spacious. The materials are good but clearly not the same calibre of the 200 series and previous Lx. It’s just not the same. Like, jump into a 2005 AMG Mercedes and compare that leather to a 2020 AMG, newer is not better, and certain eras of cars were just better made.

The Lx600 is a tech powerhouse, very impressive. But the car had no soul to it, no personality. It was also IMO quite floaty and seemed to wallow a bit. The engine was ok, but the petrol tank is small, and I drive 700km a week on the highway and refueling is annoying. Yes the 570 uses more fuel but the tank is huge.

I would buy and own both of those cars, the 300 and Lx600, they are not bad cars. But, my 8 year old Lx feels better. To me. I am so happy every-time I’m in it, genuinely, I love that thing. I smile and think how lucky I am.

The seats are so comfy, the leather is somehow pristine after 8 years. There is no rattles or annoying oddities. It drinks a LOT of fuel but I also have out a $2k custom exhaust because IT SOUNDS SO GLORIOUS UNDER LOAD!! I’m obsessed. I love it.

If they were the same $$ to buy, now, I may be tempted to upgrade to the Lx600, petrol. But at triple the price I could never in a million years justify it, makes no sense. There is no way the ownership experience could be three times as good. Just no way.

Thanks for the input.
I have no intentions to replace my 200. But it’s always good to have a plan just in case.

At some point it will be harder and harder to find a 200 or 570 that’s in good shape.

This last sentence cuts deep.

I don’t think so. In my opinion, there are two “successors” until/unless we get a real 300.

The LX600 is the first that comes to mind for reasons that everyone here already knows. But it has two problems that make it not a clear successor to me: 1) It is a compromised product by way of its completely impractical front grille
2) Gaudy exterior and image. The appeal of the LC was it not being completely obnoxious yet extremely comfortable and capable. The. LX600 is in my opinions the most obnoxious looking bof vehicle on sale.
-The 200 is from the factory ready to tackle any terrain, even in stock tires, and the Toyota badge and exterior design is understated and powerful.

The 2025 Armada/Patrol. It has a comparable, yet not equal, reputation for reliability and capability throughout the world where the real models were sold (ME, AUS, etc). It has 3 rows, better out of the box performance in Pro4X trim than a 200 (rear locker standard), and is cheaper than a 200 series.
Glaring issue: it’s not a toyota.

GX550 is just not comparable from what I’ve read. Between that engine, poor build quality, gaudy exterior, 2 rows, impractical bumper… problems too numerous to a be successor.

I believe the new 2025+ Armada is the best overall successor to the 200 series for the same reasons I purchased a 200.
I will repeat what I stated in 2019 when the new BMW Supra was introduced. The Armada/Patrol is not a Toyota product, so from that alone.. its not a successor to me, regardless of how reliable or capable it might be 🙂

And it will get harder and harder to get parts.

With Toyota products like the 3rd gen Tundra, are Toyota products Toyota products in 2025 😂

Right. I remember that initially, but thought the Tundra/LX 3.4 recall resolved (or in process of).
they are always being "resolved"

like my first ISF had valley plate leak

wife's RCF has same problem 12 y ears later... ridiculous..

diff problems in the LC... etc etc

New 2025 Tundras (post “fix”) are still experiencing some bearing failures, albeit, much less often.

I do still believe in the bad design aspect, rather than machining dwarf cause. Toyota won’t admit it, but I digress.

It’s a shame the V6 is experiencing these problems because it puts us in a bind for the full size cruiser replacements. Dropping 120k on a new LX is not looking very appetizing with the known engine issues.

I do hope they relax on CAFE regulations and we can get one last hurrah for V8 platforms.

I consider the valley plate leak part of the normal Toyota V8 experience 😅 That's a 2 banana 6 pack of beers job. Foreign material on 3.4s engine bearings is another question lol.

Trash motor? Not the first time I have heard things about new vehicles but I have little concern long term.

new vehicles - motor bearings go - and motors go kaput? That is normal on new vehicles?

motor has been around since 2018... that 7 years of same problems....

LS500 owners just do'nt post about it like Tundra BROs

If one was looking to replace a 200 Series, what about one of those German things. What are they called?

Oh, yeah. A Gelato Wagen.

Is that right?

I have both and the G is such a wonderful beast in its own way. But it is not a replacement or successor to the LC.
