I used the OME ones supplied with the kit: Front OMEGS8 (70mm) & Rear OMEGS9 (90mm)

@Fj moneypit @David1947 I’m in the process of picking a suspension kit for my 40. I originally bought the pro comp kit from 4wheelparts but had to return it because it was missing parts..now that I’m ready to purchase again, I’m in a tossup between OME and Pro comp. The big draw for me to OME is that it’s complete. I need pins, shackles, bushings, etc.. do the pro comp’s fit the stock shackles and bushings?

Are you still happy with the kit or would you have gone in a different direction?

Thanks in advance

If you're looking for a complete Pro-Comp set up, give Justin at Redline a call. Red Line Land Cruisers – Red Line Builds It Best
He has a complete package, reasonably priced, I installed it a few weeks ago.
I've had some experience with OME and felt it to be VERY stiff, others don't seem to mind but it didn't work for my preference, quality was outstanding, just not the ride I wanted.

Very happy with the set-up Justin put together so far

I have Procomp 2.5" springs on my '77 the ride is very rough, almost unbearable with the hard top removed. These springs were purchased back in 1998, maybe they are an older model, if the new ones are unchanged I would not recommend them to anyone.

My '80 has Skyjacker springs and it rides quite nice. I'm not sure of the lift height but I wouldn't imagine it to be much taller than a 2.5" setup

Never tried OME.

I like the Pro Comp. The ride is okay, the 40 isn't a Cadillac and I expected a rougher ride with the lift, the parts were complete, I purchased shackles from a different source and everything fit like it should. I purchased through 4 Wheel Parts when they had a big sale going on and saved a chunk of cash.

I think you can’t go wrong with ome. Like others say, the springs may be a little stiff. If you buy procomp I personally recommend buying just the springs and mixing with bilstein 5100 shocks. I can’t tell you how much of an improvement it is over procomp shocks. I love my set up and think the ride quality is great for a leaf sprung vehicle.

@Fj moneypit i ordered the pro comp kit today. Everyone that uses it seems to be happy. As far as the bilstein shocks, did you use the ones for the 0-2” lift or 2-4” lift?
I use 0-2 up front 2-4 in rear due to shackle

I use 0-2 up front 2-4 in rear due to shackle
I did the same thing. I used the Man A Fre anti inversion shackles- about 3/4" longer than stock shackle length.

Another skyjacker vote. There weren’t as many options back in 2003 when I installed mine. Just replaced the skyjacker shocks this past weekend.
I run 38’s on them and abused my 40on rock for years. They have held up and ride as well as I could expect

All around or just on the rears?
All around.
