@Warloc

those clamped clips we would heat them and bend them up 90deg... get lots more movement from those springs that way... once you get them opened up lift the truck to separate the pack and shoot some grease in there with a leaf spring grease fitting “stop squeak lubricator” makes it much easier... but... haven’t seen one sold for quite some time

That is a good way to bend or break leaf springs. The clamps are there for a reason.

Another vote for the skyjackers.

I think 33x10.50 at least, because it’s close the biggest stock tire size (9.00-15). Stock size 7.50R16 is also 32” tire.

Right on. I've got some random 32x1150 and 31x1050 truck tires sitting around. The tires that I have on my

Need further information. I am purchasing the Pro Comp 2 1/2" lift kit from 4 Wheel Parts during their March 10 sale. (Buying three tires, getting the forth free and getting the fifth tire and suspension at a discount.) The lift kit does not come with shackles so I need advice on what to buy. I will not do a lot of off road so I doubt anti-inversion is the way to go but I want something durable and tough. Suggestions?

I'm going with stock length shackles on mine. I need to see if I can get that them off and transplant on to the new frame. If not, I'll need to outsource some as well.

My .02 cents, I read a ton of suspension threads and I went with the HFS (cool cruisers) designer lift. My rig is driven 99% of the time on the road. Good smooth ride, greasable shackles, very pleased. I am not sure who the shocks are made by as they came with the lift. If I had to do it over again, I may have looked into HFS springs and Bilstein 5100's.

I went from BFG 33x10.5 to 235/85/16 wheels and tires and that made a huge difference for the good.

Can I ask a slightly different question as to the OME/ vs. Pro Comp issue.
Do either have a better tolerance for driving in sand/ sandy soil? Just thinking out what direction to go and basing it on where the truck will be going.

Please explain why you prefer narrow/smaller tires?

(I just got 35x12.50R15 Trepadors)

I am not a big tire guy. Noisy, harder to steer without PS, and tramlining. I dont get deep in the woods or mud often, so the advantage is limited for me. Being old school, I really like the tall skinny look. 33x 9.5 x 15 would be perfect, wish they were still around.

I'm a fan of the skinnier tire look as well. Along those lines, is the rig theoretically more tippy with the skinnier rubber? Realistically does it feel more so on the road? I was going to go with 31s. I'll have to measure that metric tire out to see how it compares.

I put in a skyjacker kit and reused the original shackles. Just start putting penetrating oil on them now. I had to source my own bushings for the frame to shackle.

I need to select a 2.5" kit and I'm doing my comparative shopping.
OME seems to have its fans. What justifies the price difference when compared to the pro comp? This won't be my DD nor will it by wheeled very often - if at all. I plan to run 31x10.5. Has anyone run each of these to compare?

I did a 2.5 Procomp on my 1969 easy to install and cheap. The ride is a little hard but not to bad. I went with procomp cause I'm cheap.

I am looking into this as I look to come down from the 4" rough country lift the PO put in. It lives up to its name. They seem really over arched and the shackle angle is bad, like in danger of inversion bad.

- CCOT looks like a good kit with longer leaves rather than over arched. However it seems they only sell it as a kit now.
- A lot of people seem happy with OME, but I have read they are on the short side and come with anti inversion shackles for a reason. Can anyone verify this?
- Procomp springs are supposedly made my NHK and would be great bang for the buck. They do not have military wrap, which in all honesty I probably dont need as I wont be doing much hard core stuff. Easy trails and camping. Some people say they ride great, others say its harsh.

How about taking a second from bottom leafs out?

I have the Pro Comp 2 1/2" lift and I am satisfied. No body lean as I turn a corner and the ride is acceptable. Not as pricey as OME and maybe just as good if not better. At least my wallet is happier.

The whole rough country system sketches me out after reading stories of broken shackle pins, etc.
Shackle pins are not included in the RC kit, how they could broke just because of the certain spring?
