Has anyone ever done a 3-point seat belt conversion for all three spots in the back seat of a 1st Gen 4Runner? I've seen lots of conversions for the outer two positions, but never the center. Kind of sucks for the person that gets the middle seat.

All modern vehicles have a 3-point for the center seat, so it must be possible.

You would have to put some kind of roll bar back there: a secure mounting point for the shoulder harness

I did this in my CJ8. As @steffan said, you'd need to fabricate location points. I like the bar behind the seat as opposed to beside the shoulders - unless that tube is far enough back that tube can NOT be a contact point for heads. The front shoulder harnesses are on the side/upright tubes but those are far enough back to avoid head-to-tube contact.

We ran a cross bar behind the seat for the two shoulder mounts. And yes - it did reduce the utility of the bed when that seat was out or folded forward, but safety was the main goal.

Wasn't really a conversion. Factory, and factory option. My 1985 came with lap belts in the back only. I was able to purchase the shoulder belts from Toyota. They attached to the bungs on the rear roll bar. I have also seen them on boneyard trucks.

I grabbed some out of a subaru. The center is still just a lap belt as there is no real way to easily make it a shoulder belt.
