Just went through your thread. It's pretty epic. Admittedly it's your vizsla that brought me here. Hahah I have one too he is just over 1 year and as crazy as ever.
They're great dogs! We are on our third one now, about 8 months old.

The tank in my '64 was/is body color, not pewter. I think '65 would have been body color also, but can't say for sure.
I looked at several others for reference and saw both body color and pewter. Mine had pewter paint under a couple of shades of blue.

I reupholstered the jump seats myself with the SOR foam and covers- piece of cake. I chickened out on the front seats and had a local shop fit the SOR kit. Very pleased with the results.

Finishing up the brake system finally. New master cylinder and all hard and soft brake lines. I rebuilt all 8 wheel cylinders with Tokico rebuild kits after thoroughly cleaning and honing them. Blasted the backing plates and coated them with POR-15. Installed new shoes and springs, had the drums turned and then painted them. Spent a couple hours yesterday adjusting and bleeding them. Pedal is still soft, but I’ve got brakes!

Basic assembly is done. Filled the diffs, transfer case and transmission today. Rolled it out on the driveway and fired it up. Runs pretty smooth, but the clutch wouldn’t engage. Probably just needs adjusted?

looks amazing!!!

What a great transformation

The weather has finally warmed up. I got the brakes adjusted (thanks to the expert advice from @tornadoalleycruiser ) and figured out I had the transfer case in neutral. Now she goes and stops. Took a quick drive down the street and back for the first time in 6 years!

Now I’m going around the vehicle, cleaning and painting more parts and installing them. I re-painted the seat backs in pewter, and was planning on re-painting the wiper motors, but realized the paint on them from a previous respray was poorly adhered. I was able to flake it off with a credit card and they cleaned up pretty nicely. Got a picture of one done and the other still looking grungy.

Be careful when cleaning the old grease in the wiper motors not to mess up park.

You're not kidding. I cleaned them out when I first got the whole electrical system working. Spent a few hours figuring that out!

i have about 3+ extra motors in various states of assembly I'll go back to someday. I do however have 2 holy grail new OEM wiper motors that are going in mine. Paint code you used for the seat pewter? I'm at that stage now.

I have some pewter powdercoat if needed.

Miguel, What a terrific job you have done!! You are patient fello. Where did you get your automotive knowledge. Re-working the parts you have done is impressive.

I bought a pint from one of the LC parts houses. CCOT, I think.

Was more or less trying to find a better paint code for the earlier than 68 silver "T46 Silver Tan Metallic (1967 and older)"
I actually have a coworker who's husband friend works at the paint shop locally and can deliver. I"ll have PPG -Ash Gray Poly #33656 mixed if he cannot find the code for the older color.
So you used the later color and didn't mess with the one with a touch more tan in it. Noted.

The new paint actually comes pretty close to the shade on the original wiper motors, not to mention any effect from aging.

Spent most of the last year busy at work, but managed to finish the hardtop and get it all installed. Working through a few more small projects and then it will soon be finished.
i thought today was the perfect day to pull it out of the garage and give it its first bath. My tire deflator came in very handy to get it down a few inches so I could fit it out of the door!
