Hey Mike. I'm not even sure which tranny it is. Only that it is 5 speed and has 68k on it. Here's a couple photos of the donor vehicle in the U.K. BTW the engine is still available. Don't have a price. Does anyone have any ideas for a cheaper intercooler?

Looks like a Manual (no Auto transmission dip stick visible). If it's an Auto it would be an A442F. Where is it in the UK, I could go and have a look at it and get any info you need if it's close.

This assumes only an H55f with a 1HZ input. There other diesel H55f's out there like those mated to the 3B and the 2H that have altogether different input shaft length or spline count.

Dave

But the 1HZ egine never came with H55F tranny, always with H150 and H151, in both cases mated to a Split Case HF2H ( 90 and up ) with 2.48 Low.

I'm not sure, but maybe an interesting issue is the input shaft for Diesel engines are diferente than Gas engines..

My 1HZ came with an H55. 1994.

In my records haven't any other tranny with this motor series.

Yes it did. They came in the 75 series trucks.

Thank you Andy. I might need that yet. The wrecker is Douglas Valley Wreckers. Right now things are moving okay, but it's reassuring to have a friend on tap. Do you have any leeds on used diesel intercoolers? -Ryan

David, as others have pointed out, the 1HZ comes with the H55f in the pre-2000 70 series, with the H150f in the 80 series and with the R151f in the post-2000 70 series and the 100 series.

In the 70 series the transfer behind the 1HZ is always the BF1A (the commonly known as the "split case"), in the 80 and the 100 series the transfer is the HF1A or the HF2A(V). Yes, the later transfer cases are also split cases :)

Input shafts are so varied, I can think of two cases where the same input shaft is shared between a diesel and a gas engine. One is between the 2F and the 2H in the H41 and the H55, the other is between the 1HDT and the 1FZF(E) in the H151. Maybe there is more in the Hilux/Light Duty Landcruiser line.

Makes one's head spin . . .

Is that a 1HD-FT?

basically-
1HD-T : 12v
1HD-FT: 24v
1HD-FTE: 24v elec injection

What years were the different engines available?

If the engine is a 1HD-FT and has a 5 speed there is a very good chance the transmission is an H151 (could also be the H150, only difference was the gear ratios).

Cheers,

Michael

Ryan.

OK that is a bit north from me in Lancashire however I do get up that way for business reasonably regularly so if you need me to go there I can.

No leads for used intercoolers. You may be able to get one on ebay if you can get the pipes fabbed up. Various ones could be used depending if you want a top mount or a front mount. Top mount gives less lag but less cooling, front mount is better for cooling as you will have more space but the pipe length will add some turbo lag. Standard LC practice is front mount - there is also more space there.

1HZ available from 1990 I think and still available.
1HDT available from 1990 to 1995
1HD-FT available from 1995 to 1998 I think
1HD-FTE from 1998.

This is relatively guess work based on reasoned knowledge. The FTE was only in the 100 series, FT from 1995 till end of the 80 series.

I'm pretty sure that the 1hd-t started in 1990.
Then the 1hd-ft started either in 1993 or 1994, this I'm not sure of. . .
I think the 1hd-fte stared in 1998 . . .

These are semi-educated guesses, can anyone verify?

FT definately not available till face lift 80 series which I think was late 94 early 95. All the 94 80s that I looked at had 1HDT. My 92 has the 1HDT.

Nobody has picked this up yet.

Isnt it kind of cool that the 1HZ is STILL available today? Engines, parts etc etc etc.

There must be something special about that bugger that they are still turning them out?!?!?!?!
