Well, Ali is leaving for the Dusy on the 11th and I'm flying in to help Onur put all the pieces back together of my 1FZ-FE.

Seeking some help and/or just to borrow a couple of things Onur doesn't possess at his place.

A small air compressor, pan-cake style, etc to run some air tools, blow out, clean stuff, etc

I need to have an O2 bung (mild steel) welded in my downpipe between the turbo outlet and catalytic converter. I can do this if I had access to a small MIG welder or if anyone is really good at exhaust welding and wants to stop by and help out that would be great.

Anyone have a piston installation tool we can borrow?

I'll add stuff to this thread as I think of it, but I'll be in ABQ Weds night and starting in earnest Thursday the 12th to get this on the road ASAP. I need to be hitting the road with this Monday the 16th ideally so any and all help will be really appreciated.

Because....Onur does have a day job.....

Exhaust shop is 5 mins away.

I will have a compressor at my house... for the event.

My money is on Mike flying back to NY.

What says the peanut gallery?

More seriously, Mike--good luck, you're going to need it. I wish I could be there to help, especially since the Dusy is such a long and difficult trail with lousy scenery. Casa Onur is going to be a blast.

You'll lose that bet Andy. I'm not going anywhere but I'll try to come by and drink Onur's crappy beer next weekend. Seems like he left 2 cans of Keystone in my fridge and I can't get any of my cheap friends to drink the stuff so I will bring some of his beer with me.

You'd better be coming over Mike. No excuses.

Hopefully, once Mike gets in, he can have the bottom end done by the weekend so all we have to do is stab it in, re connect everything, throw some water in for coolant, throw some s***ty oil in for the first go around, and take her for a spin.

Thanks Daisy & Beo - looking forward to meeting more High Desert folks and can really use the help. I may be compelled to show Andy even if it means my 80 moves like the cars in Borat...

FOLKS:

Change of venue update.

Beowulf has graciously offered up his posh (compared to mine) garage/shop at his Heights house.

Engine rebuild/re-install will be transferred to this location.

We'll still need help this weekend with engine re-install and re-connection.

Thanks.

Wow, don't know what to say except a big THANKS  and I'll try not to spill booze everywhere.

actually, you can spill booze pretty much anywhere now that the house is the official "bachelor pad".....:flipoff2:

Once Mike Robson has assembled the long block on the stand, hopefully he'll get it done by saturday, extra sets of hands will be nice to have to stab the engine into the engine bay. The dead vehicle will need to be moved around before that as well.

August meeting

Isn't there supposed to be a meeting this weekend?

OK, I guess the meeting will be at Mike's house. Jon can put the details on the HDC web site and I will post to the meeting thread.

Dangit! This is going to be the best meeting EVAR, and I'll be missing it. A meeting that might include actual wrenching???? How cool is that?!?!

Sorry to let you all down...

Daisy

PS Mike R, you are in good hands with this group!

All:

Mike is wrenching at Mike's house...

Feel free to stop by and give a hand.

We will need help stabbing it in on Sunday--the main day.

Thanks.

Good Morning Folks.

Inspecting my hardware as I go along and one of my flex plate bolts is slightly bent along the threads. Does anyone have:

M12 x 1.0 70-mm length?

Anyone know where I could get one on a Saturday? I did already try Santa Fe Tool, no luck....

Did you try AmToy for the heck of it?

For a minute I was hoping that regular flywheel bolts would work. Sorry, 12x1.25 - 31mm. You sure they are 1.0 pitch?
