Can anyone swing by my house this afternoon and help Mike Robson push his Cruiser into my garage?
If you can, just come on over. Directions are at hdcruisers.org in the "Events and meetings" section.
Onur, Ross, Kevin, and I are working today. Ross will be home sometime after 4pm and I will be home around 5pm. It would help Mike if he could get the truck in the garage to finish hooking up the accessories and wiring and things like that before the afternoon rains start again.
Just updating this with some very positive vendor experiences associated with this project:
Budlong Motorsports (http://budlongmotorsports.com/)
- had the block re-surfaced for some pitting (which seems to be common on these), had the block bored 1-mm over, had the head re-surfaced, valves gone through, Todd Budlong gave me some really great face-time discussing the engine, showed me a couple of smooth tricks for installing piston rings, putting the pistons in the block, etc. Highly recommended!
TNT Muffler (http://www.tntmuffler.com/)
- really excellent place, owner Brian super nice. I wandered down to the shop further west on Central/Rt66 that some folks had advised and was really disappointed by the service, what was being offered and the price. Got pretty much the opposite when I walked into TNT. Todd Budlong had advised me to try them and once again, he knows his stuff!
Motiva Performance (mainly turbo tuner w/dyno) (http://www.motivaperformance.com/)
-Chris was really gracious and spent nearly an hour with me going over the turbo stuff with me. The Safari exhaust manifold had a crack that had been repaired badly and the turbo (at least hot side) was no longer the one Safari spec'd and was way too small for this engine (1FZ-FE).
