WOW! Seems like everyone else in the world got the cooler 100 series. Didn't even know a cool box was offered in the 100 series!

They love these tires in Qatar.
At the moment the preferred brand is Maxxis (desertmax). They make them in different sizes (15/16/17/18 inch).
My previous experience with them is that they offer an extremely comfortable ride offroad especially when deflated. More so than any other tire I've ever tried. I'm guessing this is due to the way these tires are constructed (bias ply/nylon).
Drawback is they flatspot even when parked for a few hours (return to normal after driving for a few minutes) and they don't handle too well on paved roads. Service life can be short if you drive aggressively and they don't do well in the mud. They generally cost cheaper than AT/MT tires.
I'm in the UAE and considering a pair of Desertmax on my LX. I know they're terrific offroad but how do they do for daiy driving aside from flatspots? Been meaning to give them a try after having all-terrains. Did you need any spacers/trimming?

If you have an FZJ100 then the protocol is M-OBD which isn’t as easy to find a reader than standard OBD-2. I still haven’t found a way to read M-OBD cost effectively.

Techstream reads it. HDJ100s in Europe are all MOBD and it works fine. You might have to select the correct region in the app settings.
Torque pro on Android phones also works with ELM readers - you have to enter a "magic" string. Haven't found such thing for iOS yet :(

You won't need any spacers or trimming.
My advice is to get them mounted on 16" wheels instead of 17" (less weight, won't feel as sluggish when accelerating).
If you're new to them they might feel cumbersome on the road. They won't handle like all terrains.
I prefer to run them only in Winter.
You'll get more vibrations than normal tires but if you get them balanced properly and mounted on a decent set of wheels they shouldn't be too bad.

mine is an 02, I read it with Techstream, and the check engine light has glue over it before I got the car and the light is on for O2 heater circuit, thats why its super confusing

In Qatar MY2002 was the first year we got the cataylic converter and O2 sensor on the 1fz 100. It might be different in other GCC markets.

Hi. I may have a lead on a 2004 100 with the 1FZ., 5 speed GX from GCC. Can you tell me about the driving/power experience on USA roads? Is the gearing ok? What's a happy cruising speed? Does the GCC poverty pack models feel as "awesome" as the higher spec models when it comes to sound and handling? Thanks for any thoughts!

This rig is currently for sale with around 430,000km.
In Doha, Qatar if anyone wants it locally. (Not bothered with the export hassle).

I have way too many cruisers with little room and the 300 is better than all of them (sorry not sorry).

So time to clean up shop.
