Hello, I need some help finding the right keyfob for my car. It did not come with a keyfob, so I can't check the FCC ID.

I pulled the driver seat out and found the control box.
Model : RS3000 (08190-00921)
FCC ID : BAB237000-129

I called my local dealers and gave them this info, they told me the part number but it was discontinued and told me to search online.

08191-60820 : Listed as discontinued on all the online stores I checked (Mcgeorge etc)
08191-60820-RK : Found listed in stock on multiple websites. At this point I've tried to order it from 5 different places, they accept my order, cancel, then email me telling me its discontinued.

Can someone please help me find the right remote I need to buy?

Both are discontinued. These are no longer available from Toyota.

You will need to get something in the aftermarket.

This works for my 97 LX 450.

The behavior is odd. because the original remote only had one button. Only the lock button works.
When pressed, if locked, it unlocks (double flash of the parking lights). If unlocked, it locks (single flash of the parking lights.

I bought two about a year and a half ago. $25 each

I looked at my two remotes, one of which is original and the other was a factory replacement from the dealership in 2008 and both of them have the FCC ID: BAB237131-032.

Searching around online, it doesn't look like there are tons of options, but I do see some. This one is cheap and ugly, but would probably get the job done:

Or the ebay route for a factory original for lots of money:

An original from my 95 Land Cruiser if you plan to scour for a used one.

Thank you, I had seen the ebay link when searching and didn't bother clicking due to the price. But looking back at it, it atleast confirms the FCC ID.

Does your security box part # match mine? I'm curious if there are a variety security modules that have to be matched to specific remotes. Or if the same module works with a variety of remotes.

It seems like the remotes with part FCC ID : BAB237131-022 are way more common. As opposed to the BAB237131-032, which seems to almost not exist. Does anyone know what their associated RS3000 part number would be? Would swapping them completely be possible?

I have the RS3000 security system on my 97 LC and the remotes (I have 3) are BAB237131-022. BUT....they come in a black and grey cased version and for some reason the grey ones will not work (for me) but the black ones do.

Thanks for the info Flintknapper. Do you know the part # for those remotes?

The one's I have are factory (Toyota units) you can find them on Ebay for around $40.00. Just search under FCC ID: BAB237131-022

Rip out the RS-3000 by the roots and install a new aftermarket alarm or live without it.

I had a separate issue with my Keyfobs. The cases were damaged and they didn't want to hold together too well. I ended up just molding a leather shell to the keyfob and attaching a key ring hole to the leather.

Take apart the remote and remove the circuit board so that you just have the hard plastic shell.

Soak a piece of 3-4 oz veg tan leather in hot water and mold it to your remote with a fold at the end with the light (think clamshell). Trim taking care to leave an opening for the remote to enter while being snug with a keyring installed also leave room for the partial stitches on each side. Stain and sew the two sides by hand using a saddle stitch. Machine stitches are for sissies. Add grommet and insert your damaged unit, hopefully you got some protection and compression to hold things together (think triage). The buttons work through the leather and a hole over the light lets you know things are transmitting.

And when its time to change the battery....................?

Personally, I’d rip that thing out and go aftermarket. Those things can cause so many problems. Taking mine out this weekend.

If I didn't have it on my rs3000 system, why would I post it?

Interesting. My recollection is that the PT398-07101 was 1998-up and PT398-07100 was 97-back.

I also have a vague recollection that the 07100 was forward compatible and the 07101 was not backward compatible.

Oh well.
