VIN JT3DJ81W1P0032356

I've communicated with the seller. The story is a bit too convoluted, and his approach to selling this vehicle isn't really to my taste. Once I learned the truck is a K292, I lost interest.

I came across the Carfax via google search.

Car was recently registered this year in TN, yet it is supposedly garaged in SoCal. Not sure what to think of it all.

Probably would have pursued more aggressively if it was a locked 40th/CE. But then the Ask probably would be 1.5-2X.

This truck was mentioned here by what appears to be the seller just a few weeks ago:

Restored FZJ80 to be daily driver

I thought this kinda looked familiar.

Here's the Mud FS listing from last month. Ask was $26,5. Rear end damage disclosed.

For Sale - 93 FZJ80 - 57K Miles - Excellent shape

I saw the truck on autotrader. That's how I got the VIN and started working backwards. I dont know who's who, or where the truck is, or if it's a scam, but the current Ask of $33K is pure crack pipe.

$0.02

Smells scammy...
After reading through everything again, I think the truck is legit. It's in TN. I wouldn't waste a moment of time dealing with the "friend" who has posted the car on CL and Autotrader. If somebody is interested in the truck, go to the first post of the Mud link I posted and contact the owner.

i frequent Santa monica/Brentwood area, and the pictures shown on CL do not look like California, looks more like TN to me....

Maybe pre-qualified means they run a "credit check" and then just steal your identity, never to be heard from again. It would explain why it's listed for sale on the other side of the country at a different price.

EDIT: I should clarify that doesn't mean the original Mud post isn't legit.

They have PAVED roads in Palm Springs????

How do become a qualify buyer to see this, anyone ask?
A three page essay (in 10 pt. font, single spaced) on your most impeccable tastes and why YOU are worthy enough to view this :pompous:

So I did ask. He said it was just to weed out the flakes.

The other thread (For Sale - 93 FZJ80 - 57K Miles - Excellent shape) actually gives the story between the real seller and his "friend" (the previous owner, who lives in Socal) listing it for sale over there. The 8k price difference is really weird though.
