Thanks, yes, been thru that entire zip file. The only two things I can find that are hopeful are these...what is on page 22 and most importantly, where is page 22 lol.

Page 22 is a general location indicator it's not what you need and is only going to show you the location. Which you don't need.

I'll take a look when I get home

ok here you go. B1 can be found here:
ect.pdf

Page 3 shows B1 and the wires it has associated with it, this section is under the EWD/DRIVETRAIN/SYSTEM CIRCUITS/ ECT section of the 94 FSM.

FYI the combination meter is not necessary, the rig will run normally even if all of the wires at C12 and C13 are left in an 'open circuit' condition

Your issue is with the communication between connector B1 and T5. B1 is the neutral position switch communication and without that knowledge the trans control unit doesn't know what the transmission is doing.

Either way once you fix this your dash lights in the combination meter (D,N,R,2,L) will probably begin to work again unless they are burnt out.

Thanks again for the help. What I am still missing is the color code of the wires. When I pulled the connector apart some of the wires pulled out of the plug. Since I cut the plug off I wasn't exactly sure what wires go where so I used process of elimination. As you know, the plug is a 9-pin but the engine side uses 7 wires and the trans side uses 8 wires. This is where I'm stuck. I basically connected 1 to 1, 2 to 2 but I have a black wire I don't know where it goes now.

Yea I noticed that too. Could be a remnant of the previous transmission, its possible that they used the same harness for the new transmission that required one less wire.

I'd say its a safe bet to wire the plug up as shown in the EWD above then plug it in and see how she behaves. Regardless I'll try to get you a pict tonight.

Are you sure this is connector B1? Do you have the A442F transmission (it'll be listed on the placard in the driverside door jamb).

The reason I ask is that the wire colors seen in your photo don't match up with the FSM.

Pinnout:
  1. Red OK
  2. Black? Should Be Yellow
  3. Yellow? Should be blank
  4. Orange OK
  5. Brown with Orange Stripe OK?
  6. Green? Should be Red with Blue Stripe
  7. White? Should be Green with Blue Stripe
  8. Blue? Should be Red with Black Stripe

The more I think about it I really need the trans supplemental manual for a '93/'94. Only that will really show me two things. The B1 plug and the wires in and wires out color code. The diagram you show (although very helpful) doesn't show the actual connection in/out. In other words, the diagram you show is only one side of the plug (the engine side) which matches up to 1/2 of my connector. The trans side will show the wires on my other 1/2. It is possible I have my plug 1/2's mixed up but you get the idea.

I've never had a plug not match the fsm. And I've been through the engine bay harness, behind the dash harness and the transfer case / trans harnesses.

Never had even one wire not match the fsm.

So I'm confused with what you have going on here. I wonder if a PO got into the connector and switched things around.

I wasn't able to get a photo of the plug tonight... Valentine's Day obligations ya know!

Here's what I found online when searching for the NSS. Notice the brown, white, green & black wires coming off the switch into the plug. Does anybody have one they can take better pics of & post up to confirm?

They have more insulation than the harness wires. And or this is a common switch that is used on other applications which may require more gauge.
