Just lifted the front, about to flip it around and do the rear.

OME 861/862’s brought it up 2” from the 25yr old stock springs. It will settle still of course.

So I got a new y-pipe and cat coming, same setup that matches the Otramm cat back which is also happening.

First drive on the BP51’s, 3R and 5C front and rear. Needs adjustment, to soft but not far out. Certainly better than the 25yr old coils and shocks it had even if the shocks are out of adjustment.

Next mods and repairs will be fix the diff locks, rebuild rear hubs and then sliders, belly skid and front bumper. Sway bars also need work as do control-radius arm bushings and panhards.

Probably just run OME caster bushings for now. Eventually I will go bigger lift and rubber and will do more for caster then.

Alrighty, so I had the truck get a big detail. Don’t really have time for it myself or all the tools so I usually send them out for this.

So the cut & polish netted some good results. Got rid of a lot of scuffs and scratches. There is still some baked on pitch that may never come off in a couple spots, some small paint imperfections in a couple spots, blah blah blah. Cleaned up good although the hood is going down, hazing and they were pulling up clear on the hood so stopped the c&p on it.

I am doing this to clean it up before wrapping the truck with company logo and advertising stuff. I am going to have a paint less dent guy come by and see what he can do with the half dozen or so dings in the body.

Will decide on repaint of hood or just fully wrap it. The rest is good to go besides pulling fender flares and refreshing those.

They did do a major interior scrub as well. Headliner decent now, still a few stains from what looks like blown up coke bottles. Few stains left in the carpet as well, coffee and coke from the color. It’s clean though and better! I sleep in here on trips, stains are one things, funk is another.

Truly this has lived a soccer mom life. There are holes in the carpet above the floor rear seats from cleats the kids were wearing day in day out in this one. Mommy let it run low on oil (my best guess) and the bottom end bearings let go. Five or so years later and I am bringing it back to life.

Who knows how many kids were raised in this one, I don’t care to Carfax it and even guess. More than one round is my best guess. It is now retired from that life to live out its days being pampered and wheeled.

Just got the new y-pipe and cat today.

I was going to go wheeling and camping this weekend but it is supposed to rain so probably won’t and will work instead. Got a few new things to bolt on my truck or more if I want to dig into it.

Installing a new R&P plus ARB locker in a customers rear axle, Fj62. So not so sure I will have a bay free this weekend for my own junk!

It looks nice. It takes a lot of work to refresh a 80 series. I totally understand why shops have to charge a lot of labor to do a nice clean job on 80s getting them back up to speed.

You mind sharing your shopping list for the EGR insulation area as a whole? I need to address this. I also noticed my retaining clip for the engine harness was missing when I refurbed the heater valve and lines....

Had a little paintless dent repair done the other day.

One of the bigger ones on the truck was here in the hood, it’s gone.

He got these pulled a little bit but no way to get behind them so this is good as they get paintless.

Pulled one on both these spots, RHS quarter and back door.

I gave it a wash this morning.

There are a few more small things I will do to the exterior over time such as replace the window squeegees and fender flare refresh but besides wrap, that’s it.

I like the 105 spindles for the bushing roller bearing combo. It is Toyota’s last revision of this part after all before production ceased. Also at $150/each it is nearly worth it to me to get rid of the groove from the oil seal on an old spindle. Not to mention, these are true and not bent, ever chased a death wobble to no end only to figure out the spindle was bent?

Wheeling yesterday, the Cruiser did some pretty good obstacles. Water falls, rock ledges and so forth, both up and down them. Diff locks are still not working but we didn’t need them. It’s a local trail I have ran a few times, we did all the hardliners except those that would require diff locks and armor. On this trail that is only two big waterfalls and one side optional obstacle that is pretty gnarley. We didn’t take any pics or video of the hard stuff because, well I generally don’t because I am driving and enjoying the trail. Not out there for the “gram” pics.

My friend who was riding shotgun couldn’t believe the lines we drove. 40-50mph down the washes also had him amazed.

Goes to show I don’t really need 37’s or all that Jazz to wheel this Cruiser good. I like them a bit low anyways for the best CoG and I dislike climbing up in a big Cruiser over and over. Sliders of course are needed, I was within an inch or less of kissing them in a few spots. Belly skid would be good too. Bumpers too but I only dragged the ass once.

I am pretty happy with the Cruiser. My friend commented multiple times on how smooth, quiet and rattle free the Cruiser is. I assured him it will be even better when I do more to the suspension than coils and shocks.

They work well for what they are. I did get them hot in the washes bombing at 50mph. I got them used form @jmlockwood but if buying new, I would buy Kings.

Iirc, I have them at 5 rebound and 7 compression. It is a touch soft for my liking on the road (very close though to good) but high speed off-road they are excellent at this settings.
