Well... Friday morning turned into Saturday morning. Saturday morning turned into Tuesday morning... I gave them a call this morning to confirm tomorrow and they assured me I could plan accordingly.

Trucks are insured... I’ll be working remotely at home... sure hope they actually show up.

Good luck, as the wise Tom Petty once said; the waiting is the hardest part.

Hi Honger,
Congratulations on all this. Really, really impressive. Can you share where and how you found your diamond in the rough? I've been keeping an eye on the obvious websites in the UAE but I've never seen a troopy from the last century. I'm sure the search and acquisition of your lovely truck was interesting and I'm equally sure that many of us following this thread would enjoy hearing about it. Thanks again for the great thread!

They’ll show up.

And show up they did!!!

The Troopy had a dead battery and the driver ended up using my dad's T100 to do the jumpstart...

Got it on the charger.

The battery was DEAD. I also found that the ground terminal was pretty loose, so it probably wasn't getting good charge off the alternator anyway. With the battery charged and the ground fixed she fired right up. Still runs like a champ.

I gave her a wash this evening for good measure. Now to attack the list of tasks I have planned... =)

Hey @AndrewHadji, how's that packing going? ;)

I'll share a more in-depth look at how I found the truck in another post. Gotta hit the sack tonight. Also, John, I'd be happy to connect you with a few people who will make your search more productive.

Sweet! Yeah when mine was shipped from California, the shipper picked it up within 1 day. However it took I believe another week or 2 to get here. I was starting to get a little worried lol.

It did show up and no damage and much cheaper than the others, so I’ll call it a win.

"bukra inshallah" !
It seems that one needs this saying in other parts of the world too!...;)
You can have a... at last!...

The exact phrase came to my mind several times.

This is a beautiful Troopy. Like it a lot.

There was some low-hanging fruit to take care of with the Troopy before taking it in for emissions... plugs, cables, condenser, points, and distributor cap. I also went ahead and cleaned up the air intake hoses.

I pull the Troopy half way into the garage and determined that I can just barely get it pulled in...

Found the inside of the air cleaner quite nasty...

Cleaned up the intake hoses (and the lid to the air cleaner)...

It was filthy mess down around the distributor... and I found some extraneous wires.

The old cap.

The old rotor... sadly these are no longer available. So I just cleaned it up and lightly polished the end to clean up the corrosion/pitting.

Everything re-installed.

How do you plan to register a gasoline-powered vehicle without emissions equipment in Phoenix?

Dan was obviously on the money in raising this issue..

I started a thread in the 60-series forum because those guys have 3FE's and many of them seemed to have emissions experience (based on some searching I did).

We'll see how this goes...

You are closer to a late 2F than a 3FE, Jim C (@FJ40Jim ) is a great resource on these carb/dizzy setups. Is all your spaghetti there ... or did it even have?

Tucker

Yeah, I do have some spaghetti... and good point on this being more like a late 2F. Hadn't thought of it that way, but this does look quite similar to a carb'd 2F from a 60-series.

I had a FJ73 with a carb'd 3F engine. Fortunately where I live, emissions testing was not required and still isn't. It would have failed badly if that was the case!! Had the same amount of "spaghetti" as you too.

The guy who owns it now lives in AZ but I think he lives in an area like myself where testing isn't done. Is there some way you could do your registration and inspection in a such area? Legally of course.

Is it cost-prohibitive to install some emissions control equipment to pass testing? I am willing to bet that registering out of state is unlawful. If my chemistry serves me right (which honestly, it never has), a catalytic converter is one tool for reducing NOX and hydrocarbon
