Which Garrett turbo ? I am thinking of upgrading the stock CT26 turbo on the 1 HD-T before the engine swap as it needs a rebuild but I cannot find the part numbers needed for the 7MGTe hybrid deal ?
I hadn't forgot about your request and will be dropping by the shop today.

I've received several enquiries wanting to know which Garrett turbo we chose for my 77 Series / 1HZ application and while that information is certainly available there are a few caveats. Rob spent a couple of months talking to Garrett and exchanging information and the end result was that the turbo was "mapped" for my particular vehicle (1HZ + automatic transmission) and my particular driving style. (I wanted a turbo that spooled quickly at relatively low engine RPM's). I'm more interested in holding my own in the rolling hills of South Georgia than I am at running down the roadway at 120 KPH. In other words, this particular turbo and setup may not be suitable for you unless your driving style is similar to mine. I hope this addresses the questions.

95% of the components required to install the turbo and Intercooler are now on the shelf. One Intercooler was damaged in shipping and will need to be replaced but as of today we have the turbo, one Intercooler (water radiator), two cooling grids to cool the water in the Intercooler, one 24V re-circulation pump and a box full of hardware. The goal is to complete the installation during August so there is time for some local "testing" prior to heading to Tennessee in late September.

very impressed with your fine eye for detail...I was sold on many of yours posts and sharing such a beautiful rig, thanks to many of your pics, sharing, knowledge. I'm wanting one real bad:)

My thread is 5% tech and 95% BS but thanks for the compliment none the less. :)

1978HJ45,
I'll challenge you in the quality of BS department; i may not have the same high percentage, but mine is more BS-er than yours.

Decided to use only stainless steel for the flanges and hardware.

As it turns out my mechanic has both talent and a sense of humor. :)

It doesn't clear the rear door. He knows better.......:flipoff2:

An unexpected issue .....
The throttle cable assembly is down to one strand for some reason.

The turbo is in place with all stainless steel fittings.

No one in town can bend 3" pipe so Rob is getting to practice his cutting and welding skills.
