So, the truck dropped this at 12:30pm...I unloaded, then left for a bank appt, to pickup the M12 x 1.5 wheel studs, and a 45 minute workout at the gym (hey, gotta pretend to be young!) Back in the house, installation complete, at 4:30pm :flipoff2:

Overall, smooth install...FYI, Toyota is NOT precise with their holes...like not even close...I've learned this with other installs :) The 3 holes on each side of the frame rails are a perfect example...I got the upper and lower bolts in, the the middle has zero chance...and that was with a pry bar, alignment bar, jack, wood, and lots of persuasion... @reevesci - you might consider these 6 as slots, and allow for more "front" clearance...even 1/4" would have sufficed.

Last up: license plate...didn't even think of that, but obviously I need a new plan...zip ties might work short term, but any links to "real" examples? I have an idea (mount to left swing arm, using OEM bracket, adding in a trailer light bracket to make it legal) but want to see other options...just in case :)

FYI...my spare doesn't match...size or wheel...but it beats walking :) Gota hit up my BFG contacts to see what I can do about that...

Bonus: the truck sits nearly level now, stinkbug gone...this is a SOLID piece!! #nostinkbug

Beauty!

Man, I cannot wait now :bounce:

Can we see a doors-open shot please?

When I put the kaymar on mine I had to slot the side holes horizontally about 3/8 of an inch and the rear crossmember holes vertically about 1/4 inch. That one was supposed to fit a 78 Series.

I have installed three of these on customers rigs and haven't had an issue with the bolts aligning.

I like the feedback so I can make the final product 100% user friendly.

You had nothing to do with mine.

Yet.

Hows that front coming anyway? :)

Have not yet removed the stock license plate lighting, so that's limiting the left door from opening further...right is fully open however...

That's how mine is. It's worked out well, though the stock piece sticks out and I've always expected to back it into a tree and smash it. So far not… but it's coming.

Are there hinges/struts on the swings arms?

No gas shocks on my arms. Too many reported failures with the ball rusting and breaking or snapping off while opening of the door. I use a positive stop to keep the arm from swinging into the body and then locking pop pins to keep the arm locked open for those fun off camber situation (if the customer decides to use them)

No struts...just the single pivot at each end...those are a bronze bushings and they swing smoothly.

I'm not thinking that high...I'd put it low, on the arm itself, not on the actual can rack. I would wreck it up there :) Low makes wiring in a license light easier as well.

Been busy driving...the BJ74 has quickly turned into my daily driver.

But, it was time for some changes...OME suspension went on a few weeks ago, and I stopped by Pro Auto in St George today to find this:

Right on. Looks like you stuck with a semi-float? Thought I read you had scored a factory locked FF axle? The SF will hold up just fine under that truck so perhaps you stashed the axle for a future project.

I really dig that truck, I spent some time driving around before Jon picked it up. It drove really nice albeit in major need of suspension love which you resolved
