How do you like the auto gearbox? :)
No complaints...honestly, the auto was a MUST for my wife, and she's driven it a few times...bad enough that I'm the only one that can drive the tow rig :)

I've chatted with Wholesale Automatics over the years...might chat a bit more with them to see what upgrades are available.

Gauges arrive today, need to source a piece of plastic to modify for mounting below the radio. Boost and EGT will get connected immediately, trans temp as soon as I determine the best cooler size/setup. Boost control ordered, should be in late this week (clamping the line would work, but gives no easy adjust options down the road.)

I am interested in seeing how you deal with the spare tyre. I have a bit of sag in the hinges from mine.
Trail Tailor rear bumper with tire swingout...easy fix, and better protection :)

W,

Are you just wanting ABS sheet for the gauge plate? I have some left over from my dash insert project on Goss. You are welcome to it. I will add to the box tomorrow.

Woody, welcome to the club!

If you do some detailed description on the turbo boost it would be very helpful to amateurs like me. I went with a 3" exhaust on my 13B-T. Crushed bends so very similar flow to 2.5" mandrel.

just that simple...thanks :)

I'm actually a bit surprised no one makes a gauge plate that works in that location...nearly universal size for any Toyota that runs a single-DIN radio and the cubby underneath...would be universal to RHD/LHD and could be angled a few degrees to help with gauge visibility

Here's another option if you don't need to know what the interior cabin temperature is in Celsius:

Two 70 series bumpers going out in one day! :bounce:

A technical description of how your automatic transmission works.

and yet, when I'm on a steep hill and can two foot a smooth ascent while you foot fumble between the clutch, brake, throttle and stalling, I don't mind the power loss :)

Mo boost also helps with perceived power loss ...

I'll be back behind an auto in a week or so myself. :)

Some truth to that. The hand throttle works really nicely though. Almost like slow motion cruise control for hill climbing. Luckily the 70-series properly equipped nicely bumps and bounces its way up and over most obstacles which makes this method practical. Once it gets too technical, then I'll readily admit there are a few too many pedals (or I have too little skill!) for comfort.

My FJ40, back in the day, had an SM465...it worked awesome...after 10+ years with stick shifts, I switched to a 700R automatic, and never looked back...SO smooth when built right, SO much control. They both have their place, but for truly technical work, I'll stick to the auto :)

So, plans are coming together...fortunately, they are being spread out over the rest of 2015 :)

Trail Tailor @reevesci rear bumper arrives this week
Ironman suspension arriving in December @helocat
FF rear coming to replace the SF, and will be getting front/rear Harrop eLockers from @wardharris

Tires and wheels will get me by through the winter...likely end up with KO2's again (since I LOVE those tires) but something more aggressive might be necessary...we'll see...

I "almost" took the BJ74 on a run today, opted instead for the 80...considering the pinstripes and the bumper landings, I made the right choice :)
