just out of curiosity how much does a new factory tray cost?

Starting about 2g more than a tray made by a local company, even though Toyota trays are made local here as well your paying for the Toyota sticker on the tail gate basically .

Rag top roof in uk , doesn't it rain there 24/7.
:D

The Brits seem to see suffering as a sign of "character.":D and a leaking vehicle only enhances that experience. You shouldn't make fun of the "mother country."

An adhesive decal company can reproduce the Toyota logo for about
$25.00.:)

I think they are a bit under $4000,but like Clint says ,you can do it much cheaper. They also come in different load ratings ,steel or alloy.
I wouldnt be surprised if they havent started bringing them in from China partly assembled by now as there is a flood of chinese made car trailers hitting the market and squeezing the locals out.

Thank goodness the Chinese are known for "high quality" engineering.:D

i have seen some real nice items coming in from China over the last few years and some real s*** coming from American factories. <as well as Vice Versa >
what is really interesting is the amount of Chinese product is repackaged as "American"

i don't care where it is made as long as it is made good quality. Money is hard to come by, i do not give it away easily.

I think we can all agree that the "quest for a quick profit" has unfortunately replaced "craftsmanship and pride in a lot of countries.
The U.S. is certainly not exempt from this concept.
OK back on subject...:)

ATTN: All Electrical Geniuses.....yet another electrical gremlin....
Battery light and fuel Filter are once again pulsing in sequence however both cease to do so when the brake pedal is depressed.
Any thoughts or opinions?

I would say your ground is a bit funny on that alternator.
Fill up that alternator plug with di-electric grease and get a ground strap for your alternator. That fixed, well the strap fixed my alternator.

Thanks for the tip. At this point I am willing to try anything.

Does the pulsing change speed in relation to the engine rpm?

Have you ever had the instrument dash panel out? It sits on some contacts on its base, but I cant remember if they are earths or for power.
However if the contact is bad they often do weird things but usually it makes the temp guage spike

This happened in my brothers mwb and the temp gauge was reading false due to bad earth

Issue is constant regardless of RPM. To my knowledge the dash has never been touched. The only two things that have been done recently is rebuilding the alternator and replacing the turn signal switch however the issue is still present with the turn signal switch unplugged. :bang:

Do you have anyone in your area that is a whiz with alternators, maybe someone who can bench test it?
.It would be good to be able to discount that so you can focus on other things.

What happens when you turn the headlights and other things on and off?

That is where we are headed today. The alternator was rebuilt last week ( new diodes, brushes etc. ) however I was told a faulty diode would cause the symptoms I am experiencing. Hopefully we will have an answer shortly. Headlights and drivings lights ( on or off ) do not make any difference.

Yes ,bad diode is what I was thinking. I used to have a Holden and the alt light would have dull glow whenever the alt was under load.
