O.K. This is a 1979 FJ40 with a clear title, in 2007 it was a barn find from southern Missouri with less than 50,000 miles and drove like a charm. The rust in the rear was quite extensive so I took it apart and began collecting parts and working on the project. I had the rear cross member replaced, sandblasted the frame then had it primered and painted. Rebuilt the front knuckles and disk brakes, replaced the shackle bushings and installed new shock absorbers then reinstalled the original 2F engine with a Weber carburetor, 4speed transmission and differential. I purchased a Pilgrims steel 3/4 tub from Profits Cruisers in CO. they are now selling for $6,500.00 through CCOT in TX. I found replacements for the rusty rear doors and had the bottoms of the front doors repaired. I purchased power steering pump from a 1979 or 80 fj40 through ebay and had Profits rebuild a power steering gearbox for it. New seat covers (approx. $250.00) have been purchased as well as new Kumo tires and many other parts.
I believe every thing is there that is needed aside from some odds and ends, I even acquired a stock carb and smog control equipment thinking I might want to make it smog compliant. I have invested over $12,000 in this project, however time has passed, I've moved on to other interests and this is now taking up space in my garage. I realize I could get approx. $15,000 by parting it all out but would like to see if someone would like to make me a reasonable offer for everything. Please, serious responses only. This is a link to a photobucket page with pics Pictures by eotwup - Photobucket if that doesnt work just go to photobucket.com and search eotwup . I can answer questions and send more pics on request. please email me @ eotwup@aol (DOT) com and include fj40 project in the subject and body of the email to help weed out spammers. Thanks.
