Side note - I am looking forward to the box from @ToyotaMatt :)

Another side note: Would be nice to find bulk Japanese vacuum line, outside of the chunks available from Toyota/SOR, etc.. Maybe a new product idea, Matt? Anyone?

If someone that's listening becomes the "line" guy: vacuum, fuel, cloth braided 10/13mm, etc..etc.. that would really benefit the community. It is a hassle and most is grossly overpriced.

Dallas - i just want to say this may be one of the top threads ever because 1) its amazing detail work and effort, and more important 2) its a real world documentary of all the obstacles to overcome restoring a 40. a lot of build threads dont include the 'misery index' and yours does - this has motivated me to understand this stuff doesnt just bolt up all easy peezy, its a lot of work and frustration and...money to do it right. i think a lot of projects get put aside due to frustration, mine included, i just went so hard and fought SO many battles i was whipped...& broke lol - i needed a break....that turned into 2 years...your build is an inspiration to just keep moving forward. i am back on it tackling bigger projects i put off earlier - had finding some 'joy' in the problem solving department (when i figure it out!)

@kudzugypsy Right there with you! We are all in this together. THAT is my motivation right there, you all! What people have contributed, their level of detail, knowledge and data sharing. Some of you I have met in person and have had a now 20 year friendship.

So many times I've "slid" into slippers and zipped out to the garage to get a measurement, part number, or photo for this community and I've loved it. I've had some cool cars over the years, been to some really neat shows/cars and coffee, etc..., none compare to this group.

However, that being said....Bilbo said it best to his community....."I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

The cool thing is that if you can manage to get even just a little bit of motivation, these fun landcruisers can pay you back with some smiles. It can be a love hate relationship, but when you find that thing that you're putting off because of how much headache you build it up to be, then when you get through it it's a wonderful sigh of relief. Good luck to all of you getting and keeping that motivation. This is a great group.

Dallas, the small 3.5mm ID hose is available from Toyota in a bunch of lengths, but the 600mm length is the best price/length deal. I bought a handful for my 1978 project. These prices were from last year on PartSouq when I ordered. Hopefully this is the diameter you were looking for?

300mm hose, 3.5mm ID90999-92002$ 2.56
600mm hose, 3.5mm ID90999-92003$ 1.19
950mm hose, 3.5mm ID90999-92004$ 6.21
1300mm hose, 3.5mm ID90999-92006$ 12.38
1650mm hose, 3.5mm ID90999-92007$ 18.51
2600mm hose, 3.5mm ID90999-92008$ 26.96

My 69 looks like this, and I just replaced the studs and lug nuts:

Skid plate was previously powder coated, so I’m rolling with it. Today (a beautiful fall day) I fixed the rear wheel studs as mentioned above.

I finished the transmission hump and the four doors (body work and primer)

I then fixed the flywheel cover, mounted it and the skid plate. Then, of course installed some accessories from Matt.

I plan on just taking this to an exhaust shop and having them install the triangular connections and a can-like muffler similar to OEM (discontinued).

Also, parts to install the steering column arrived! Also some tidbits for the steering box. Stay tuned.

just got my tires replaced the other day... haven't seen or driven my rig in years and I had to sit there and stare at the rear axles... I just couldn't believe that the nuts weren't fully engaged. I don't remember them being as bad as yours... but the studs weren't flush with the nut. Just tried to find all my pictures... not sure where they went.

Productive weekend and great weather.

I had previously just sprayed black epoxy hi-temp paint on the manual steering box. As mentioned above, I finally received the Toyota parts to service it. I started with swapping out the seals, bearings and gaskets.

I then worked on priming the rest of the body pieces.

Everything is just about ready for the last bit of paint.

Continuing work on the emissions/vacuum/charcoal canister work.

Does anyone have a lead on #3, 96221-20706?

It would be cool to find a clean used tube, but shipping would have to mash it flat or twist it and looks to be fairly easy to make one - other than the bends along the firewall.

I was looking for something in your thread and realized you have a 1/78, mine is 850 cruisers before yours!
