I replaced my front brake hoses tonight, and found them to be different from stock. Especially where I need to clip the axle end to the tab.

The first picture shows it pulled away revealing the groove where the clip shoudl go. Second is a picture with it in place showing how the groove is so small it isn't visible on the underside of the tab. And Finally is a picture of a new hose next to one of the removed hoses. You can see the differences in the location of the groove.

What have you all done to hold the hose in place? Or did they give me the wrong hose and I need to get it replaced again.

I would say to either return the hose or grind/file off the narrow hex part of the fitting so that what you have can go deeper into the bracket.

Reviving this old thread as I am in the same boat now. I do not have any automotive background as I am sure thiere is a very simple answer that is just escaping me. What was your solution?

I would say to either return the hose or grind/file off the narrow hex part of the fitting so that what you have can go deeper into the bracket.
Or buy a Toyota hose from one of the supporting vendors. I think I bought my hoses from Cruiser outfitters. They fit perfectly.

yeah, will look at that now, Thanks. I did the backing plate eliminator kit from SOR and it came with the stainless steel flex hoses (too long in my un-educated opinion) and I thought they should fit but here I am. Will give Cruiser outfitters a call.

As mentioned b4, In the past I've filed the thin hex down to the barrel diameter. Its a relatively soft metal so filing was quick. Just cap the ends so no metal goes in the hose.

This is the part I discovered you have to file down.

Just to be clear.... Funny, I just went through this when adding clutch and brake lines to my 64. (using updated 10mm hoses and fittings)

Thanks. I knew there had to be a simple solution. The knuckle rebuild has been a fun project but a pretty decent learning curve for me
