Well it is official. I am putting my 2+ year project up for sale....

I love this 55, but I would like to see it go to a home that will be able to use it. First some history:

I started looking for a 55 about 5 years ago; in 2004 I found a nice early model that was virtually rust free. The only rust was in the front fenders. I bought it completely stock and drove it with the "F" engine for 6 months. Then the bug hit me, I wanted to make it a little more capable. So I started researching, I spent hours on Mud and Pirate and formulated my plan. I loved the V8 in my 100 series, so it was a must. The transmission was chosen, because it was the latest model year that would work with the stand alone TCU. I picked the fulltime transfercase from an 80 series and front and rear 80 series factory e-locked axles that were rebuilt and re-geared to 4.88. From there it was just how to make everything fit and work. I engineered the front 3 link, and built everything with top of the line components (heat treated 4130 links, Johnny joints, 2.5" Fox shocks, 2" Fox Nitrogen bumpstops)

The body was stripped down and the floors were all rust bulleted. My wife and I painted the truck with single stage enamel auto paint in spray cans (This was done, so that it could be touched up after it was scratched) The interior, wheel wells, and lower part of the exterior was line-x'd.

There is so much to list with this truck, but I have lots of photos of the progression. So on to the bad, the truck is not finished. It is probably 90% complete. I have all of the parts to finish, but I just don't have the motivation to continue.

So on to the photos:

These are not the most recent photos. I will go down to the shop Tuesday and get photos as it sits today.

The truck is in Fredericksburg, VA and I am asking $19,000.

If you have any questions just let me know.

Ryan.

Not sure who's getting Ryan's 55, but for $18k your stealing one fine rig that's never been off road, except that pimple of hill down the street from IPOR. Ryan had a great vision for this 55 and all the hard work is done. I've watch this truck come to life and it had an impact on what I did on my 55 which IPOR is just finishing, except for the lift as mine's for light trails and street use. If you tripled the price you might come close to what he has spent, I don't have first hand knowledge of how much Ryan has in this truck, but I know how much I've spent and as we all know, there's nothing about building rigs thats cheap.

Regards

Lou

Lou,
Ryan is selling the 55 to me. He and I have had a couple of converations about the project and I have to say I am pretty excited to finish it as he would have done. I undersatnd the build costs as I have done a few myself. I laugh when it comes time to sell one cause I only get pennies for what I have spent. But I do it cause it is a hobby and a passion.
I have seen a few pictures of your 55 and hope to see it in person when I show up at Ironpig to scoop up Ryans.
I should also add that I am pretty psyched to meet Ryan in person. He seems like a hell of a guy. I admire his creation. That is the real reason I made the purchase. I need another cruiser like I need a hole in my head!
All the best and look for me down there in a few weeks to a month.

Is it finished? Back forsale?

This Piggie was sold and the new owner is currently finishing her - maybe he will chime in soon.

yeah, i realized that, that is why i quoted the new onwner's post...i was hoping to either see it finished or to see that he hadn't made any more progress on it and was ready to pass it on to someone else ;)

progress is going slow but close to completion. New 37 krawlers installed lasty weekend. Steering and bump stops hopefully this weekend. Shake down run shortly after. Pics to come soon in 55 section.

if all goes well, it will be 99 percent by summer and off to the cabin to hang with the others. it will get some use up there on moderate trails.

not ready to get rid of it yet.....

the owner, goebs
