Oil pressure is overrated.

Called Dakota Digital customer support and talked to a representative. Absolutely first guy I spoke with knew the issue and had me do a couple voltage measurements then unplug the constant power wire for 20 seconds. Evidently sometimes removing battery power puts the computer into sleep mode, and this fixed it.

So, initial impressions.

Super easy and well thought out install. Even down to the color coded lettering for each wire clamp.

Programming is super easy.

It looks good, and doesn't ruin the FJ40 vibe, imo.

I do have some nits to pick though.

First, the instructions are kind of chaotic. Since they make these for several cars, that is understandable. What I don't understand is why they don't include an adapter for the oil pressure sensor that actually fits.

My biggest issue, though, I reserve to whomever assigned the constant power receptacle a millimeter away from the ground. These are bare wires you are installing. I'd think they'd have those two wires further apart.

But otherwise it's a nice kit and I like it.

This is the kit that's like $1800, right?

Thank you!! Such a great looking puppo. Hope he finds a great forever home!

Returning the thread to its regularly scheduled tech programming. :)

No pictures, but I have got everything working with the instrument cluster except the fuel level.

None of the preprogrammed settings worked, even the Asia 112-4 that is recommended.

I went through the manual settings for a couple hours this afternoon, and the ohms aren't changing as smoothly or precisely on the fuel sender.

I'm thinking that perhaps my old crusty sender might be good enough for the original electric gauge, but not good enough for the precision electronic gauge. I'd hate to buy a new sender just to find out, but that may be the next step.
