I am sooooo torn, completely flustered and undecided with my decision. Man it would be hard to pick which one. Obviously vastly different Cruisers yet the same. Grandpappy vs grandsonny, so difficult to decide which one would be for me.

🤷🏼‍♂️

Also, it was decided to go with the later style windshield frame for better windshield wipers.

Mods have been made to the later windshield frame to make it work more life the older style. Even more is in the works for it.

At 6’5” tall, I chose the 79.
Is amazing how well I fit in one.
Maybe a 45 if I could channel then floorboards and pedals forward…
I am at 6'3" and never had a problem with headroom but the seat was too close to the firewall and seemed like my toes were facing my knee, so my lower leg would get sore on a long drive with my 78 FJ40.

I have the same problem if I fly and rent a small car plus the lack of head room.

Chris did a great job on this. I like it and it will be nice to have this storage in the 45’s cab. Our OBA compressor and Redarc goodies will mount opposite the drawer inside the fuel tank.

Cheers

Another vote for coil sprung 79! is there a build thread for it somewhere?

Yes sir 😉🤙

Luckily us guys under 6ft fit pretty good in the 45. I am 5ft11”” (probably 5’10” now, I am old) and 165-175lbs. I fit in the 45 just right, 79 a bit more room for sure, similar none the less.

Well that killed a bunch of my time but really cool to see how this came together. I’ve got to stop by your shop sometime and see these in person!

Our fuel tank/drawer/storage build is pretty well done.

We could not locate a 47-series hand throttle, I do believe they have been NLA awhile. So we got a newer model, 80-series, and are custom fitting it. It is a 1995 1HDFT after all. 😉🤙

A few more pics.

OEM goodness on the turbo.

It may look chaotic now but this is “rough in” still and everything fits plus has it place. I am actually real happy with how everything is laying out in the engine bay. It’s busy but clean and organized and serviceable.

Using billet hose “tamers” throughout.

That looks great! Did you fabricate that cover or is it repurposed from something else?

It is fabricated.

Just a little something to make getting in a SoA 45 on 35’s easier.

Anybody that has DD a big lifted Cruiser should be able to appreciate this. 😉
