Just about done with welding and fab on the chassis. Rear cross member is beat up from all the years so that still needs some work, getting closer to painting though.

Rotten inner frame rail area we fixed up.

Not sure I mentioned it yet? We are doing a light rebuild on the FT. This is a low mile (100k mile FT) out of a 1995 HDJ80 from the UK. The owner for peace of mind and since we have gone this far wanted confidence in the engine. So we opened it up, I am happy to put ARP head studs in it!

FT is completely torn down now and we have checked all specs on the bottom end. Bores are like brand new, crank bearings need to be done, conrod bearings are ok but we will do them too. Top of block is within spec but I may have the machine shop take .001 off to clean it up. Head is full of soot like they all seem to be.

Cheers

looking awesome

Ian, can you share details of the interior/underhood lights you used?

Removed rear crossmember, suspected some rust hiding in it.

They are just the Baja Designs “cargo” lights, the smallest lights they sell.

Frame got DA sanded up to about the front shock towers. It is all looking buttery smooth before paint.

I took these a few mornings ago when we had it outside. There is something about a sexy rolling chassis that hits my g-spot! 😍🤙🤣

We don’t always do the POR15 thing on a frame. If there is rust between brackets we use the POR15 because we can flood them and it is our best bet to seal them up without dipping. We diluted the por and sprayed it all inside the frame and all around brackets. Rotating it a bunch as well. It is coated well now inside and out. We let por cure awhile (we do use accelerater with it) and then we scuff/sand it all back finishing with a top coat.

Cheers

Did a major sand/scuff back on the frame after POR15. We top coated it with POR15 “chassis black” top coat.
