That’s bad ass, makes mine look like an after thought!!! Nice work, this 45 is going to be one of the best well thought out builds, cheers to you and an owner with very deep pockets!!!

We spend a lot of time going over everything we are doing with the owner. He makes the decisions and actually comes up with ideas too.

To me this is best since it is his truck and should be built just how he wants it.

Cheers

Not much to see here but this is the bottom half of the air box welded out and ground back.

Just about the time I actually start thinking I might actually be a bad ass, an actual bad ass comes along and reminds me I’m not a bad ass. Thanks for nothing, man.

😉

Just an FYI, it’s a team effort in my shop. There is no way possible I could do everything we have going in my shop alone. I have some really good guys working for me who actually enjoy doing this stuff. So they are the behind the scenes badasses. 😉

So one more post before I leave the shop. Yes I am still in the shop after 9pm, it is my “man cave” after all and I am fortunate to live 1.5 blocks away.

Any ways, we also rolled a bead on the intake to turbo silicone hose. I am pretty happy with it and it should do the job.

In the shop we have dubbed the air box “elephant truck”. 🤗🤷🏼‍♂️

So we have our intercooler’s radiator all roughed in now. This pic was when we just started it, I tried to get some pics the other day but we have the rear axle fully compressed right now and it was to dark to get good pics.

Anyways we have fit the biggest radiator here we can and still have a bit of room for exhaust. There is no way to fit this or an ATA up front so there was no choice but to fit it under the Cruiser. You could do a top mount ATA on this build but you would have to cut the hood for a scoop and that would be so ugly imho. The AtW is it’s own system with the cooler on the intake, this radiator, plumbing, fan, pump and so forth. It will also be on a thermo switch. We mounted this right behind the cab where the bed meets that cab. It’s tucked up all the way to the floor of the bed, in fact it’s mounted off the floor crossmembers vs building crossmembers or mounts on the frame. We built a scoop that faces forward and the fans are up top. It will have a grate or grill for the front to keep larger debris out. It is certainly not ideal for heavy mud use or say driving over tall grass a lot, for that kind of use it will need to be cleaned often. For normal mostly street use I think it will work well for the options we have. I will try and get some more pics tomorrow with some light.

Cheers

So seats were all torn down and repaired awhile back. We then got the frames and parts powder coated.

Today we dropped all that off at the interior shop. We went with probably the best guys in the state, some of the nicest work I have ever seen anywhere. I put the owner together with them so I am now out if the loop on that unless my help is needed.

Axles got finalized and welded out. We then POR15’ed them. Next will be a heavy scuff back and top coat.

Probably doesn’t look much different in pics but we let the POR15 cure over the weekend and then did a heavy scuff back. After that a top coat.

So you can see in the last pic we had to do some customizing on the ebrake cable. This was due to shocks, we don’t want the cable rubbing on the shocks at anytime and it was under compression so we did this. It has been tested and works fine.

So it literally took six months to get this and it was not cheap.

Real nice though, diesel version so EGTs will be displayed on the screen. Also yes we need to restore the bezel.

It may seem like the thread has died off and it has I suppose but the build is still front and center in our shop. It’s occupying a bay in our shop and we are picking away at the build here and there.

Recently we have been able to get some good hours in on the project and we will be on that trend until it goes out for paint. It is going to have a stint at the interior shop soon simply because we need seats to build the roll cage and we prepped seats for resto.

Anyways, update time!

We finished off the custom air box with our hold down clamps.

We decided to plumb a fair share of the intercooler piping in hard aluminum lines. So we fabb’ed these hard lines. We will probably paint or coat them before all said and done. When we ordered the IC we specified rear ports to keep the engine bay clean. We had to modify and tig weld one fitting but all good now. The rubber hoses are just slapped in, this is by no means a finished job.

Due to our setup, we get a nice clean engine bay when the hood is up.
