Hey Merbes, I have a customer with a genuine 73 911rs fully restored,of all the porsches I have driven over the years that 73 rs is by far the most impressive, fun to drive porsche. It is too bad they are out of reach for most but a replica is not too hard to achieve, still not cheap.Nothing better than the sound of a porsche flat 6 @6700rpm!!!

I totally agree, nothing better than that sound, even better at 7500 rpm ;) I had the chance to by the RS years ago and they were only ;) 60K, but all I could afford was the S which was 13K. Either way, still wish I had one. I plan on building an RS replica someday. Or find another S, but then you are stuck keeping it original for fear of losing value. Cheers.

Now days, you cant touch an S for less than 30k,and I have seen clean examples sell for 60k! I just stumbled on a one owner 77 911s targa with 76k miles for 2500! Been garaged its whole life, just needs to come out of a 14 year hibernation. It is actually in great shape cosmetically, just needs a little tlc! I wish people would garage an fj45 for a change!!!

FJ's were working vehicles so no one ever thought about garaging them. Porsche's have always been babied. That is a great price for the 911, but a 77 is not the same as a 73, but you know that. ;) But, hey only $2500.00, I would buy that one. Let me know if you don't want it. Cheers, Mark

Yeah, not my first choice for a 911 with a 2.7 and thermo reactors, but if you saw it you would want it.Nice silver over black combo,100% original with no silly mods. The 69 to 73 e,s, and t market sure shot up in the last couple of years. I bought a 77 911 turbo about 10 years ago for 3500!! It needed a cosmetic restoration, but it had a newly rebulit engine.Customer could'nt afford the repair bill so he signed over the pink slip!! I still want to do a 73 rsr with a late model 3.6 or 3.8. 2300lbs and 350 hp!! If only I wasnt afflicted with 45 disease!!

Markie, Lots of 110's here in German. Lots of parts too, but afraid once in the US, they would be tough to service and from what I hear having talked to several owners here in Germany, they will break, just a matter of when. They do look great though and the prices are very reasonable. What is the year of your 110? What is the cut off for importation and was it difficult? Send me a pic or yours.

I know this dude who had a nice 77 930 turbo, black on black with a few mods. A friend in California named it the German death sled.....

It is no longer in the garage so the family loves their dad again. But I will say that between porsche and fj's.... Tough call!

Speed is an amazing thing!!!

Goebs

by the way, post some pics of the targa please and then we can get back to the 45lv later!

Yes Whitey45, I too have the "muti-tread-head disease"! I have way too many cars I love, too little time and too little money. That turbo deal sounded like a nice one. Those are another one of my favorites. How about a 993 Turbo, those are a real piece of art work IMO. So are you going to buy the $2500.00 Porsche? If not PM me the info so I can check it out. Cheers.

I sold my 993 about a year ago,I used to daily drive it for about 5 years. It had 217k miles when I sold it and it still runs as good as ever.By far the most advanced and well behaved last of the air cooled 911. The twin turbo 993 is probably my favorite air cooled porsche. I used to go on test drives and get up to 90 mph in 2nd gear in a 35mph zone and be able to come to a stop before anybody realized how fast I was going!!Truly an amazing car. When and if the prices come down,I will consider putting one in the garage! I did buy the 77,just need to find time to get it going.I still have to finish my 31 model a 5 window coupe with a blown 502! oh and another 45 resto, and oh...yeah its time to check the cranium,I think it needs a resto!!

Whitey45, sounds like you have no shortage or projects. Once my back project is finished, I will move on to those with 4 wheels. I too hope to have a 993 turbo someday, but it seems like as the prices come down on those super cars, they get just a little dated and are still too expensive to repair. I remember wanting the original 930 and thinking they were the most beautiful auto, now they are reasonably priced but are a bit dated. Still like them, but? The deals now are the 996 Turbo cars. I am just not a huge fan or the 996. I am torn between a long nose early car vs. the 993 2S. I think I would be smarter to get the 993 as it is more reliable, but I just love the RS look.

All this talk about a porsche is killing me! Yes, I sold the 930. It was taking up space that my other junk needed. I sold the lv as well for the same reason. Once I can swing building another shop with space, I am going to go right back and get a porsche first, then a 45lv. I feel like half the man without those toys in the garage... But then again, the 55 seems to make up for some of my mental losses!

That is what gets me in trouble all the time. A vehicle "taking up space" instead of being driven. Dumb logic which results is selling a great car/truck. If we used them 2x as much as we should then maybe we would not end up selling them. We rationalize as needed to justify buying them in the first place and then turn around and sell them bc we don't use them and they are "taking up space", crazy. cheers
