You be jammin!

Sorry

I wish you were closer Great work ! Feel free to go into more detail, I am going to have alot of cutting and welding myself soon. Amaizing what your getting done

Black stuff is Zero rust. Hose it on so it is runny. Then use compressed air to drive it into all the cracks. Only bad thing about that stuff is the welder hates being anywhere close to it. Have to grind back to clean metal before welding, but hey better to have some coverage than none. After I am done I will spray Body Wax followed by Body Grease. I don't think it will rust after all that. At least not in my lifetime. Definitely a team effort at the shop. Bill bent up this rocker box. Good job Bill.

more

more 3. now I have to figure out the best way to get some rust proofing paint into this space now that is is closed. thinking about drilling a hole at the bottom, temp. plug it, pour POR15 in from the top then pull the plug and blow it out with air pressure. I have found the air pressure works well for blowing paint into the crevices.

awesome! just read through your whole build thread (well looked at the pictures anyway) and it looks great! glad you and your mechanic are back full strength... you're almost past the stage of never having to grind metal again! :)

Update

Two guys four hours Thursday. Me by myself about three hours. All total, 11 hours. Rockers are finished. :bounce::bounce: Moved to the rear quarters. My buddy, Biff, helped me with the demo. Took more time just figuring out the pieces to the puzzle and how to take it apart without just butchering it. I wanted to do it like the factory, so we took our time and did a lot of studying before making a move. The left side will go much faster, so to speak. Started on the RR. Cut off the skin, drilled all the spots, cut out the cancer and can now go about the Frankenstein task of patching back good metal. Had to block up the body so I could detach it from the rotisserie long enough to drill the spot welds that were behind the mount. Then bolted it back up. Figuring that out took 30 mins. at least. I have two donor qtrs that have enough good pieces to patch my qtr. skins up to be as good as new. Pics later when I work on the skins. For now concentration on the insides. After getting the skin off, I set about removing any and all rotted metal. Now I have good solid metal to build off of. I have all the pieces I cut out and will start to fab new pieces to fill in. I will sandblast the entire are before doing any replacement. After sandblast I will coat with Zero rust, then Body Wax by Wurth. Then weld it all back together. Hope to get some time in this weekend, if not too tired.
