Not a ton of pics, but a few of todays 83 FJ60 action. Pretty much a 12 hour day working on it.

Shot of the engine compartment after the old motor was removed. Then some shots of the old motor on the right and the new black motor on the left.

Matt

Wow Matt, I figured you'd swap an engine faster than that! I finally found something that I did faster than you. I swapped out the engine in an '84 BJ60 I had a few years ago, started at 8:00 in the morning and had it running at 5:00 in the afternoon. Granted, no pollution control stuff though.

I was thinking the same thing until I saw the finished pics with the spagetti and just said "holy crap!". I'd be lost.

I'm with you guys.. starting to convulse.... habit of viewing this thread... can't stop.

Convulsed right into the garage tonight and actually did something on Brando...

Great work! This thread has inspired me to buy a welder and do more of my own work. Thank you

On a side note. I mentioned to my wife that I would like to read Zen and the art of Motorcycly maintenance. She walked over and started digging thrugh the bookcases and with in 30 seconds put a copy of it in my hand and said "it is a good book you will enjoy it". I got a cool wife.

Damn.... that is definitely one cool wife. Mine would go more like "I'd like to see the People magazine article on blah, blah, blah from June of 1994." At which point my wife would walk to her bookcase and present it.

But damn, she sure is hott.

Matt, Come back man. Need to see yours to keep me motivated, as i'm dealing with wiring right now, and a little painting also.

Hey, I am back!! I rolled into town at about 1:00 a.m. this morning, time I got to bed it was after 2. Decided to catch a few extra hours of Z's this morning, then had to get up and plow snow from all the white stuff that felll while I was gone and working late this evening.

I know I said I was planning on spraying some clear Monday evening, but that didn't actually work out as planned. I had a flight scheduled out of Dallas Sunday evening. But because of bad weather in Minneapolis they had to carry extra fuel and bump 10 people off.......guess who got randomly selected because no one would volunteer.... I was extremely pissed, but whata you going to do. My wife and mother were with me, so we all ended up staying overnight. Had another flight, but that didn't leave until 6 pm last night. Flight into Grand forks, ND was delayed so it ended up being a late night / morning.

So in any event, I am running a bit behind schedule that what I initially ancipated.

Came to work this morning and look what was waiting for me......Cruiserdan goodie package!!! OEM front bumper, emblems all the way around, rubber pads/bumpers, front marker lights and a bunch of other misc. OEM parts. I am amazed on how heavy duty that OEM front bumper is, that thing is heavy duty. Still amazes me that this stuff is still available and that the cost isn't too terribly crazy?

I'll be getting home later this evening so and I really don't feel like doing anything this evening except sitting on my ass before I goto bed again. ;p I should be able to shoot some clear on those doors tomorrow evening and get back after it!!!

My ego is not to big to admit that....Yes, I am intimidated by automotive wiring :D

Hoping to get my buddy over to give me a hand with that, but we have had a lot of snow and he likes to snowmobile.

So, until then, I keep working on other stuff.

Dallas was pretty nice this time of year, temps were in the 70's and 80's and not to humid.

It was a balmy 0 F when I landed in Grand forks last night and had and extra 6" of snow when I got home

Dallas is actually pretty cold right now, well cold compared to what we see in Corpus. I think it has has only snowed twice in the last like 50 years down here in C.C. and the most was 4in, ironicly on Christmas. Have you ever gone by that cruiser place right out of New Bruansfels (probably totally mispelled that). I saw a quite a few cruisers sitting out front, but it was dark when I drove by. I think I'll swing by there on the way back to Corpus.

Good luck on your project, totally kick ass.

New Braunfels is my home town, I was born and raised there. The place you are talking about is between New Braunfels and San Marcos on I-35, its Wimberly 4X4 or something like that. Sorry for the hijack but any cruiser fanatic needs to stop there.

I also just want to say that as excited as I am to see the finished product on Matts cruiser its going to really suck not getting to log on every day and seeing the progress. Matt, do you have another build in mind?

Exactly what Darin said......45 lwb next if possible. Unfortunetly I am not willing to pay the prices I have seen them go for on ebay though. I would like to do up basiclly a stocker with a few minor mods, 2F (assuming in was pre 75), saginaw powersteering and that's about it.

I'm kinda hold'n out for that good guy deal or barn find, although that may never happen ;)
