Can anyone tell me what was the model toyota turbo came on the 13BT and the range of years of the BJ73 and BJ74's they came on? I have ordered my new OEM 13BT exhaust manifold from 4WheelAuto to put on my BJ42 and going to try and find the factory toyota turbo that came on them for I am in Colombia South America right now and there is alot of new and old Landcruisers running around? Any info would be appreciated. Also, would I still be able to get the rebuild kit for it if I even find the turbo and how expensive are they?

Thanks
Rob

17201-58011 turbo assembly.

Model CT26 off BJ71,74 years 85 to 90.

Also there is down pipes, cross overs etc. So try to find a used one with all the goodies. Then you can buy the seal kit when you get home and rebuild it.

thank you much Brownbear, I will begin my quest while down here. DOnt know if they were also brought here but I will look?

Rob

I went on ebay and I found a few CT26 Toyota turbos but say came out of supras and other cars? Am I missing something here Brownbear? Or do different CT26 have diff specs as far as propellar size or whatnot?

Rob

After reading more thoroughly now? I think it might be a problem to turbo my 83 BJ42 for it is RHD which means the Brake booster, a/c compressor, p/s pump and 2nd battery are on the same side as the exhaust manifold? Does anyone know if this is going to be a problem with all these interferences along with the air filter assembly?

Rob

maybe some of the ozzies can answer the rhd question.

As for the CT26. That is the housing designation. Many different trims came out in that housing. So yes they are all quite different.

One person on here recently used a supra version, said it worked. But many said they thought it to be too big and the time you got boost too high in RPM.

I dunno, but if you can find the actual 13b-t turbo, you'd be cookin.

You can also have one made for you in the US. Turbonetics offers a CT26(toyota) housing. The guys in the supras' who want bigger buy these. But they could be made to lower specs.

search turbonetics. I have spouted about them before, so include my name in the search.

Hello,
I am using a CT26 out of a Supra. Boost is excellent and lag is unnoticeable. They are inexpensive and readily available. I am a believer in the wisdom of the original engineers, The 13BT manifold mates to the turbo, like they were made for each other and the engine makes so much power i only have revved it to 2800RPM, those who were naysayers as to the CT26 3B combo were incorrect. If you want 15 PSI at 1200 RPMs a smaller turbo will provide that and nothing but heat at higher RPMs.

Roberto, I don't think you will find a factory turbo 13bt in Colombia.....pretty sure that they were never offered there. If it's a factory turbo you want, and you're okay with new...give me a phone call again. I regularly import engines and parts from Japan, and since I'm in North Carolina already, I could get one put into another shipment to help on shipping costs.

Now didnt we have thread about when someone wanted a clutch or brake master cyl for a RHD BJ74?
It turned out only RHD master cyl off a 13BT would work as it needed to clear the turbo assembly.

Or did I imagine it all:confused:

Rob, over in the 40's section you said:

I have the same question actually for I have an 83 BJ42 LX and just bought a 13BT exhaust manifold for it but then began to wonder if there will be issues for the Brake booster is on the same side and mine has factory a/c on that side as well.

Roberto

Have you got some pics of youi setup so we can possibly compare? I have the same vehicle as you with AC but I don't know if the AC is an OEM unit. Here are some pics of mine.

I dont see your compressor in the pics? I will look to see if I have any pics with me on my laptop of mine or other pics of other 83's with factory a/c. are you referring to the unit inside the cab? I just got my 13BT manifold in but of course I am overseas so wont be able to work on it until I get back. Give me you email address and I will send you what I have on the BJ42's?

Rob

Rob, I have not been lucky enough to find a manifold yet but don't want to flogg a dead horse either:confused: Looking at this pick of turbo42's ride, I can't help but wonder why a complete 13BT will fit into a RHD BJ42 but not a manifold+turbo onto a RHD 3b 42? Looking at his master cylinder it looks just like mine ito size etc?

Obviously the K&N clears up space but that was not the supposed problem? Guess we will only know for sure once you get home and actually measure that sucker on your truck? I will send you my email

i tried the k&l filter, just like the way you have yours.

took it off after a few weeks.......

easy for water to splash up and get sucked in by the filter.

did not like they extra noise.

problem with some of the oil getting sucked back into the turbo from the filter.

also...... you should put a pre-filter on your k&l filter.

there are now better high performance air filter products than k&l that don't require oil.

:)
