Man that’s incredible. Looks like I need to hurry up and get my tree ready.

I’ve been away from my hometown long enough now that I can really start to appreciate its beauty. I really wish this wasn’t just a cell phone pic.

But then I see sh!t like this and I remember why I don’t live here anymore.

Dude drives a dodge.. you just can't help some people.

Made it home around 8pm last night. I left two days later than I had wanted to so that only left me with 4 for the return trip. So mostly I was making ground. I tried to make the best of it though.

Coincidentally it uses the same size wheel as modern mountain bikes so...

Pulled the fenders and stuck a slightly too big 27.5x2.0” tire in there (stock is 26x1.50”), I’ll have to go down to a 1.75” or so. But I’m loving how this old tank looks.

Swap a lockout fork on that thing

Swap a lockout fork on that thing

You mean a locking fork? I have one on my ‘40 DX, I did so to get an extra 3/4” or so of “lift”. This one is going to stay dead stock original other than the beefy tires and the saddles. Cheap fun until I probably sell it, eventually.

Great trip pics! Makes me want to go back west again.

Let’s go back nearly six weeks. I sold my Tundra to a close friend of mine.

Coincidentally he is now the same age that I was when I bought it in 2005. He’s not a car guy- so before he took it away I explained to him I can’t claim that it’s going to be as worry free as when I bought it, but it’s a damn good truck and it’s got a ton of life left in it. Two days later he came over to my place, I pull up and I see him parked with the hood up... I thought to myself, Luka doesn’t know sh*t about cars, what’s he doing with the hood up? Turns out, the power steering pump blew. It looked to be spitting fluid straight forward from behind the pulley and making a nice mess everywhere. Faaaaacck.
I had previously explained to him that the factory steering rack was running out of time so when this went out it only made sense to do them both. Problem was that I was leaving town for AZ later that week, I had zero time. He had to find transportation in the meantime, I felt terrible.
When I returned from AZ he had ordered a rebuilt rack from Phoenix Rack & Axle and a parts store rebuilt pump. We got to work. Over the course of three cold nights we replaced the the rack with new bushings, Toyota TRE’s, swapped the pump and bled it out. And when I say we, I meant I told him what to do (he wants to learn and be more mechanically inclined). That’s the most work this truck has needed in 247k miles. But it all went great. Wrenching with friends is fun. Doing it alone is like work!

This is my fear every time my wife takes off in the Sequoia

Can "done at the dealer" be verified? Assume the po did that.

I had it done “at the dealer”. I had a friend who was a dealership tech that did a lot of work to the truck around the 200k mark. TB & WP, LCA’s & ball joints, etc. He of course used Toyota parts because he was able to a great deal on them. I reimbursed him for the parts and paid him his hourly rate, he did the work in between his other jobs at the dealer. There was no paperwork. It’s not his fault (he was a very detailed tech), for whatever reason the ball joint ran dry on grease, wore the socket out and separated. Shouldn’t have happened, just bad luck I guess.

Pulled it all apart today, ordered parts from Mc George. Doing all 4 ball joints and front flexible brake lines. The right side wasn’t leaking but it got pulled on really hard...
