Been wanting to get one myself.. Surprisingly no one in the states make for the 100

Honestly for me just the ability to mount a 18”x48” InnerMetro shelf is my ideal solution.

Thanks a ton for this! I ran out yesterday and picked up the bits, got it thrown in last night and couldn't be happier.

I am thankful I was able to contribute something useful to MUD "I think" hahaha

Good job man!

Can you put up a pic showing the close up of your u-bolts and such.
I wanted to possibly turn the threads around but there is a higher risk of cutting some of the stuff I store up there.
We put a long type zippered bag with all the bits I use to keep the ARB awning secure on the sands when we go to the beach. Our stand up changing room
which stays folded up and in a zippered bag. I have a nice battery/storage job pox thing that zips into a heavy duty case so it sits up there.
The shelf turned upside down creates a great shelf.

I am headed to ACE today to find some small spacers to bring the drivers side down just a bit to level it up. "OCD/ADHD"

Have you seen the hooks and the drawer that mount to the shelf?

I am thinking of snagging one of the little hanging drawers, I saw them on this guys post...

I hadn't! I checked stock at the local store online and found they had zero, but girlfriend needed to run over there during lunch anyway so I decided to look and found one on the shelf :)

Plan to use it for stuff like tie-downs, tent stakes, bungees, etc. Will be nice to not have those small things floating around in the bottom of my Plano case. I'll grab another for the other side of the shelf at some point I imagine.

Sure, I'll try to snag some this evening. As you can see in the pic above I flipped the passenger ones outboard just to keep from tearing stuff up.

I’m working on a set of height adjustable brackets. What height do you guys/gals run these at? So far the prototype has a height of 5 3/4 - 7 3/4” from the headliner to the top of the bottom shelf. I’m leaning towards 5 1/2 - 6 1/2” as I think most ppl want to run these up pretty tight to the roof.

Set to 6 1/4” for reference with drawers 14 1/2” tall and a 20” tall cooler.

(Edit: drawers not finished. Lol)

I’m getting closer with dimensions and design. Very exciting process! Mainly working towards manufacturability concerns and hope to be talking to a laser cutting shop soon.

Question: If this comes to be would ya’ll want the kit in bare steel, powder coated, or stainless for a premium? I’m partial to stainless.

I'd be interested in stainless or powder coated. Will this work for the grab handles where both point down? I know there are different configurations for different years.

I’m in for powder coat. Stainless seems like overkill.

I would definitely be in for powdercoated hangers that level the rack and offer adjustability. The u-bolts work for now, but I'd pay for a cleaner install.

That’s a great point. I’m designing them around my ‘00 470 which has handles facing down on the passenger side and facing up on the drivers.

Ok I’m ready for T&E!!!! The top of the rack shelf is 5” from from the headliner as measured from the bottom of the rear cargo light. The rack is 17mm from perfectly centered due to the shape of the rear headliner with the rear AC unit. The top corner sits 3mm from contacting the headliner so it’s as high and tight I think it can be.

Im pretty excited about the rack also being easily removable with only 2 sets of screws and nuts due to custom machined hardware. Once the brackets are bolted into the handle locations that is. This also has custom machined standoffs just as a nice touch.

If this sounds good please PM me with an address and I’ll send out two preproduction T&E prototypes for free for feed back. First two ppl in lower 48. Once feed back is received and any changes made I’ll post pictures of the final prototype before production for everyone to take a look over.

If this seems well received I’ll take the proper steps to register as a vendor, etc. Thanks everyone! This has been a fun project and I appreciate the motivation and feed back!

Will this setup work for the configuration with 2 down pointing handles like on the later model years?

So far only the models with one handle oriented up and one oriented sideways. I believe both pointing up would likely be easier to design so if these go well I would be happy to give it a go.

That would be great. Wouldn't the driver's side just be a mirror image of the one you already designed for the passenger side handle pointing up?

I would hope so but can’t say for certain. My main concern would be the spacing between the two. In all likelihood this would allow for a higher shelf placement if that’s desired. I personally want a bit of room to store more stuff.
