I have not gone to the Scan gauge thing yet; are these expensive? to reset codes is it complicated or lots of steps involved?

If you've got an android phone, you can buy a bluetooth ODBII reader for between $20-$100 and buy the Torque Pro app for $5 and you're all set. Super-easy to use and you can reset the codes with a couple of taps.

There's probably something similar out there for iPhones, but I don't have one so I don't know.

really??? an app??? thats crazy but I will definitely look into it; i thought you had to actually plug something in.

Just got the error and truck has been on "limp" mode and won't allow the truck to accelerate past 35mph, extremely frustrating. Currently at the Lexus dealership, but went ahead and purchased the bypass system. I'm sure the consultant will come back and advise a repair of approximately $3000.

Frustrating but you will be okay after you do the bypass. Keep us posted.

Just saw your in Austin. Call Edwin Kincade, he is the president of the Landcruiser club in Austin and has his own shop here in Austin. 512-420-0012. He will fix it right for a lot less then Lexus dealer. If your ride is at Austin Lexus your only a couple of miles from Edwin's garage.

I swear I think mine is about to fail. Everytime I shut the vehicle off I can hear a "squeeze" of air (like a high pitched sneeze) coming from the middle of the engine bay. For anyone that has had a failure, did you ever notice this sound when shutting off vehicle?

The sound i noticed was at start up. It sounded like a turbo. Very high pitched whine. That night, leaving work, the same sound and CEL came on. Do the bypass. Very simple now that there is a plug in option.

Good luck
Tim

Failed on my 05 Tundra. This was back in 2011 @76k miles. Cost quoted was $2k+

I recall reading that one of these pumps failed and pieces of the pump/fan went into the engine and caused a lot of damage. DoO a search and see if it comes up, but on my recall, if I had one of these I would disable it.

I am hearing of the smog pump fins coming apart and damaging the valves. Does this system prevent that?

Yes, the bypass should fix this. It prevents the pump from operating. The tundra forum referenced in this thread has an extensive discussion on this topic. If you think you are having issues, get the bypass now.

Put the AIP bypass in a week ago. Works like a charm. Haven't had any issues since and the high pitched whining noise as well as the CEL are completely resolved. Highly recommend this solution.

I used the non-splice version from eBay.

Overall install is about 45 minutes.
