What do I have? 1979 FJ55 front hubs

Twenty years ago, I bought the axles off of an 1979 FJ55 a buddy was scrapping and put them under my early 40. I don't really know what I have with the front hubs: I know I've read about the hubs in the past, but can't find a link now. I'd like to add Aisin manual hubs if possible. Would...

    2F health questions....what to do?

I purchased a used '78 2F to install in my '67. I purchased it in conjunction with some other parts, I've not heard it run, it was apparently rebuilt about 10 years ago, but has been out of the vehicle, and not ran in a few years. It appears to be really clean, inside and out. I ran a...

Canoes. How do you haul them?

My kids love canoeing. I don't mind it either so I bought a cheap Lowe 17' aluminum this weekend. No dents, damage, missing rivets, just a little bit dirty. Flotation is still good. It's probably a 1980s build. I brought it home on the truck roof with blocks and ratchet straps, but realized in...

Rodent activity in my engine bay, what to do?

Hello, just noticed my firewall insulation was all torn up with rodents droppings. The weather is cold here in So Cal at night but this is the first encounter although my LC 100 have always parked outside. Any suggestions ie traps, rat poison and is the isolation hard to replace? Thanks !

Do you think the 200 series is too big for trails?

Posted this the other day on the 250 forum as the 200 series was seen as too big for trails by those admiring their 40 and 80 series (I get it, both very nice) or justifying going for a 250 (Do not get it, remains a Prado/GX). So do you think the 200 series is too big? Well, it is all relative...

Wanting to Do a 3 Inch Lift

I have a 2007 non kdss with 118k miles. Toyota suspects that I may need new UCAs and could have a potentially bent front left suspension causing a really bad camber in the front left wheel. Im wanting to do the OME 3inch lift kit with their UCAs and rear coil conversion kit. Im also going to...

Dual battery systems and winches ... what to do about fuses?

First time dipping my toe in the water of this part of the forum, and into dual battery systems in general. I'm going to be putting a dual battery system in my daily driver FJ60 in the coming months and I'm starting the process of designing the system and acquiring parts. I have a background in...

New owner of a 1-owner SoCal LX470; literally driven by the old lady down the street for 19 years. I always told her that I would buy it from her when she was ready to let go. She bought a new GX, I got the LX with 130,000 miles. (timing belt replaced at 95k mi) I've already sourced great...

Why do they always call them Jeeps?! lol!

I saw this shirt at a store in Whiteville, NC. They obviously did not recognize that it was the iconic FJ40!

WKOR slider install on AHC LX 470 - do I need to bend this line?

Tried installing my new WKOR sliders yesterday but had to give up because I ran into a thick hard line on the driver's side that wouldn't budge and I didn't want it touching the slider directly. I'm assuming it's AHC? Wanted to bend it out a few mm for the u-bolt to clear but it feels...

    Which fender do I need?

I am looking for a replacement fender for my 96' and noticed on Partsouq that there are two variations. Part # 5380160483 and 5380160223. One comes with over fender and mud guard and side step. I assume it is the one without. Amayama seems to have both available (fingers crossed) These are...

Do we have a Comprehensive AHC thread?

Gents, do we have a comprehensive AHC thread already started? If not, I'd like to contribute to the forum here by spearheading this. Goal of the thread is to be a single all encompassing AHC resource. Items in it would be, but not limited to: stock operation of the system, maintenances, how to...

Happy Turkey Day! Recent Deer strike left my7 driver side front end smashed up. Air bags did not go off, all damage seems to localized to driver side front end. Insurance said it doesn't cover deer strike so I'm SOL. I've been round and round with the insurance, now looking for out of pocket...

How do YOU carry recovery gear?

I have recovery gear in a Costco storage container that sort of works. It is a bit clunky. I am thinking about getting a duffle bag that I can just grab out of the back and get to work for recovery. So, what do you guys use to carry your gear? Any recommendations? I also switch out gear...

    Hmmmm...What to do next?

I'm in a sticky situation. Suspension or other stuff ( recovery gear, CC & MTS, recovery points, tire inflator, etc). Now, in my mind, I can always use other people's recovery gear, but I can't use other people's suspension 😇. But if I'm out alone, I might need that gear. I really want to do my...

    What do I do?

Bought this 1980 a few months ago, and the hard top and doors were stored at his friends shop. I picked them up and put them in the barn for the summer.
